Hi,
I've spent 2 months in kolding for work, my husband came with me. We stayed the first 15 days at this hotel, as it was one if the few options with a kitchen... we decided we won't stay there and we changed for far better airbnb for the rest of the stay.

1/ the double bed is infact 2 simple beds, not even attached to each other... you fall in the middle of the night

2/ the staff at the reception are not very friendly and not very helpful (i asked very simple questions where was the bus to take, etc...and they couldn't answer)

3/ very few service for what you pay compared to orher options in town! I paid around >150$ in this hotel, i found way better after for 56$! With a real Bed and kitchen! (They dont come and clean every day but you pay as if they were coming!)

4/ it was not very clean (dishwasher...)

The building os Ok, the breakfast is acceptable (not exceptional neither), the location is great. If they could improve the service, get more for the price and have a friendly staff that would be lunch much better...so far it's a scam.

Our family (2 adults and 4 school-age kids) stayed 4 nights here during a 12-day road trip through Scandinavia. Kolding Hotel Apartments was quite a find for us - one of the few places we could locate where we could all stay together in a single room for a reasonable price. The apartment was spacious and the property well-maintained. The staff was also very helpful. In terms of location, we were less than 1 hour to Legoland and about 1 hour from Ribe, both by car. We highly recommend Kolding Hotel Apartments for families traveling through the area - and anyone else who prefers a self-catering accommodation.

Travelling to Denmark with three small children, we had prebooked two nights at "Kolding Hotel Apartments". We prebooked parking, so we could make sure that we had somewhere to place our car when we arrived.

Coming there, late in the evening (00.30) we got extremely lucky that there was an available parking spot. We later saw that paying for parking, is far from any guarantee that you get parking. You need to pay, but you are far from certain to get a parking. This is a blatant rip-off.

On arrival (00:30 in the night), the baby-bed we ordered was not even set up. Just put on the floor in bags for us to mount ourselves. This has never ever happened before - in all hotels (even apartment hotels), the staff has at least bothered to set it up for us. Coming with three sleeping children at 00:30, you do not want to start mounting a bed.

One of the windows did have a curtain-roller in front of it that was destroyed and could not be closed - so we were walking around in our underwear for everybody to see.

The next morning, our pre-booked "breakfast" consisted of a quite simple collection of meats, jams and bread - together with a coffee-machine. It was expensive even. Perhaps a smile and "god morgen" from the receptionist? No way. She did not even look at us.

During these two days, we saw many cars that had trouble finding a parking slot.

The bed: two single beds put together. The bunk-bed: not secured on top, so it was super-dangerous for young children who can fall down. Positive: a playground outside the lake.

We will not return, ever. It was not worth it. Go somewhere else.

We’ve been traveling around the world, for pleasure and for work, and unfortunately this place is where our money were worth less value.

THE PRICE: We book the place for 15 days, we spend 11.899 DKK, 1.600Euros, and this money only pays for the apartment and the breakfast and very low speed internet connection. You have to bear in mind, MOST of the (nice) hotels around are CHEAPER.
FYI: If you go by car you will pay and extra 50DKK per day or if you need to do your laundry 40 DKK per wash and dry.

THE STYLE: When you book from internet the apartments looks so nice on the pictures, but when you arrives at the beautiful village, you see that you are actually in the ugliest buildings of the village, The complex doesn’t match at all the nice area around (lake and castle versus Steel tube and IKEA furnitures). Of course, Art is personal. So here are the other things they could change for a better customer service:

THE CLEANLINESS: In the entire stay (two weeks) they don’t come into your place, they don’t clean anything, they don’t change the bed sheets, they don’t change trash bags, if you have higher clean standards than expected, you can go by yourself with your dirty towels to the front desk and they will give you clean ones, but if you desire to clean yourself the apartment, you will not find the tools to do it. If you wan’t to use the dishwasher machine you have to go the supermarket to buy dishwasher machine soap, but if you check the filter of the appliance, It haven’t been cleaned since it was installed (I think they don’t know that i have one); we decided to buy a regular foaming dish soap and do it manually after see this.

THE SERVICE: Well, the service of this place doesn’t seem to be run by hotel industry professionals, and they are not friendly at all. First, they don´t give you enough information at check-in and tell you to go to your room and “Read “ the small stickers on your refrigerator for the wifi code or a few cardboard papers for tourism information, or the TV where you shall find “everything”. (all channels in danish only CNN in english) Then, we came back to them with some questions (simple ones related to the transport options around) and they were “not sure” or couldn’t provide the information…It took a while but Google did a better job.

RESTING: The bed is WORSE part. We wake up every day with back pain. if you expect a regular queen bedspring and mattress, You will not find this, you will find two separated 3 centimeters yoga mats on top of a separated wood structures.

The GOOD THINGS: The Breakfast it’s ok and the view is amazing with the Castle and the very nice Lake. The Location in the village is great too.

It could be a nice place to be if 1) they could improve their customer service and 2) their price as other nicer hotel with more service are in fact much cheaper. This is just too expensive for the value. Airbnb is for sure a better option too.

We have to go Kolding many time for work, but we will never come back here.
