Went here on a half board basis.never again. Although the rooms were clean and tidy the rest of the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. The restaurant food is awful. Tea and coffee is only available at breakfast. I overheard one woman comment I am not eating that crap again. We never did either. We ate every day at Hugos Pub as it is brilliant. The Management need to seriously look at what they are trying to achieve by treating guests so badly. We will never book here again although we will re visit St Julians somewhere else .

dear guest, thank you for your comments. We would appreciate if you can explain how and why the food was awful. General statements do not permit us to investigate your issues.

Stayed in room 615 if I remember well from the 15/5 until 17/5. Amenities okay (I asked for an iron and was given to me) room clean, nice view to the swimming pool area from the room. Nice breakfast, we didn't get to try lunch/dinner.

I normally start my reviews by what is good about a hotel. The only thing I can say is that there is free WiFi. Everything else is terrible.

The hotel is tired and dotted around the place notices about what you can’t do. Don’t take plates cutlery etc from the restaurant, do not use room towels by the pool or you will be fined €25!

Food - is repetitive and dull, the choices are limited. If you are a vegetarian you will go hungry. They check your room number from your key when you go in even though we were all inclusive. The drinks at meals are limited to coffee, tea, water and truly awful fruit juices. One morning the milk for cereal was off.

Pool - locked until 1000 (one day it wasn’t unlocked until 1015. I presume this is for chemical cleaning but this is the first time on all of my travels I have been physically locked out. There are no brollies although there is a sign saying you can pay to hire them. Even if you wanted to there is no one to ask. One person on duty at the pool bar means a long wait to get served.

Rooms - tired and really basic. We were in a two roomed room (2 beds in on room 2 in another) the other room was linked to some power equipment possibly an extractor fan meaning there was a very noisy. We chose the other room. There were air conditioning units in both rooms, together with hairdryers. The beds are only mattresses on MDF bases and possibly the worst ever bed I have slept in.

Bar and places to relax - the indoor bar is not opened till the pool bar is closed at 1800. Poorly staffed, poor decorated. Limited drinks on all inclusive, although this is normal.

The corridors and lobby’s are poorly lit, I can’t decide if every other bulb has beeen removed to save money or because they don’t have staff to replace them. More likely they want to keep everything in sygian gloom so you can’t see how awful everything is.

They have cleaners out with wet mops at times when people are likely to walk down corridors, no wet floor signs and the floors are slippery.

In conclusion, please don’t come here unless you have very low expectations and don’t mind feeling like you are in a nasty bed and bed breakfast in Torquay in 1970.

dear guest thank you for your comments. We have gone through the contents and we would like to offer the following information.

The notices one finds in the hotel are those which anyone can find in any hotel. We do not find anything offensive in reminding guests that utensils and cutlery cannot be taken out of the restaurant or that room towels cannot be used in the pool area.

the menus for ll the meals are changed every day, and in every meal, one finds enough variety for a vegitarian meal. Even if this was not the case on some occasions, there is a restaurant manager always present during meals, and he goes out of his way to satisfy guests requests. If you are all inclusive, drinks are not limited at all, and you can drink what you want in the restaurant. We did not have any complaints about milk being off, and this is the first time we are hearing of it.

The pools are available between 10am and 6pm, as, like all hotels in the world, they need to be treated from one day to the other. The number of attendants in the bar vary, but we haven't had any complaints of long queues waiting to be served.

We need to know why the rooms were tired, because from your subsequent comments it seems that you had all that is advertised in every room.

The indoor pool opens from 6pm until midnight, once that the pool bar closed at 6pm. We do not find anything strange in this. Drinks are not limited at al to any number which can be consumed, and the only limitation is that of the brands which fall under the all inclusive; again something which is standard practice. The corridors and lobby are not poorly lit. Of course, it might happen that a light bulb goes off here and there, but these are fixed in no time.

The lobby and corridors are cleaned very frequently, and not only mopped but also dried, so the floor is not slippery.

Finally, let us point out that it is useless to make these kind of comments after you leave the hortel, because then there is nothing we can to rectify any issue. If issues are pointed out during a guest stay, he/she can rest assured that immediate action is taken.

I came here with my daughter for 3 nights, never again, we went all-inclusive but ate out , so were do I start ? The food was bad, watered down soup, beans, always cold, no coffee in any machine, we asked at the bar where do we go for a snack and the barman pointed to a corner of the room, it was a tray of sandwiches wrapped in clingfilm, not refrigerated we couldn't believe it, we go all inclusive every may , but this was diabolical, cost a fortune eating out the noise was terrible , the reception staff were useless, on the plus the pools were good and the rooms were nice, beds comfy, even locals knew we was staying there as wearing blue band, they call the hotel faulty towers, Malta was beautiful but will never go to this hotel, I know people will look at reviews , and make up there own mind, but please stay away,

Room Tip: We were on the 6th floor looking over reception, very noisy with students, screaming and shouting so was pool side was quieter

Stayed at this hotel for a week with my adult daughter on HB
I was aware of the trip advisor ratings, but wasnt prepared to pay alot of money for a good hotel in Malta as too expensive, so took a chance!

Reception on arrival: 5/6 staff members giving no eye contact and looking frazzled!! Long wait to check in & I had to pay £7 local tax & £50 room deposit. (Pay this in cash) which they put in an envelope and give you back at check out.
This hotel has many large groups of students etc, some Spanish, rude and loud and often drunk & hanging around entrance & in the bar.

Twin room 515 overlooked pool & a good location. No remote control for TV, or info about safety deposit box, so didnt use.

Beds very comfortable, but same sheets all week. Plenty of hot water, but poor shower & bathroom needed an update.

Canteen!! Breakfast: Cooked options, cheap cereals, weak yoghurt, watered down milk, margarine no butter. Sweet sugary juice! Often no cups for drinks, food would run out & not be topped up, a shambles!! Pleasant staff though.

Evening meal: Awful! Much pasta, cheap cuts of meat, little fresh veg, watery soups, lacking seasoning in foods. Cake type desserts & jelly. Most food was unappealing & it was obvious they were on a tight budget. We ate out 3 nights.

Pool area: 3 very clean pools, plenty of new sunbeds, area well maintained. Toilets & shower shut, had to use ones in hotel. Pool accessible from 1 door only. Open between 10am -6pm. These times need extending. It was quiet in our room at night due to this.

There are several blocks to this large hotel & luckily the rowdy groups weren't near us. Money & cost cutting are very apparent in this hotel, but if you want cheap and cheerful and are laid back, go for it! It's in a good spot for buses/tours & plenty of bars/shops nearby.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool are quieter

dear guest thank you for your comment.

The eco tax is a government tax and we can do nothing about it.

We have noted your comments about the food. We did not have any similar complaints recently, and in any case, there is always a restaurant manager present during meals. It is useless to make these sort of comments after you leave the hotel, as then there is nothing we can do to rectify matters.
