Absolutely beautiful property with very kind and welcoming hosts. We stayed for 2 nights in the king size room with beautiful views of Derwentwater and wished we could stay more, we have every intention of going back! They welcomed us with delicious ginger cake and tea when we arrived. The bed was very comfortable, the room was very clean, and the breakfast was delicious both days!

We would 100% reccomend Skiddaw Croft b&b!

We really appreciate you taking the time to give such a lovely review, thank you. I think you picked the right day to do Scafell Pike, its too hot this week, and we don't get to say that often :-) We look forward to welcoming you both again another time. Sue and Steve

Recent two night stay (return visit to property but first under new owners Sue and Steve). First class B&B, everything you need for a relaxing break. Rooms very clean, excellent decor and very comfortable. Breakfast was most enjoyable and set us up for the day ahead. Very attentive hosts in Sue and Steve, who did all they could to ensure a perfect stay. Peaceful location too! Ideal location for enjoying the beauty of the Lake district.
We will be back and can highly recommend this guest house. G&S

I stayed here in 2016 for the Lakesman triathlon in Keswick and returned this year. Sue and Steve were very kind in accepting my last minute booking, and were very welcoming- I was greeted with tea and homemade cake on my arrival! Once again the room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and well-equipped, and my partner informs me breakfast was delicious- I was swimming in Derwentwater at the time so can't comment! Special mention for allowing me to leave my car at Skiddaw Croft during the race after I had checked out, which saved me a lot of stress. Would heartily recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms have stunning views out to Derwentwater!

Hi Sarah, thanks for your kind comments. It was lovely to see you again and to hear all about how you did in the Triathlon - well done! It was nice to meet your partner too. Thanks for the lovely flowers which are still going strong a week later :-) See you again soon we hope. Sue and Steve

A belated review but we still have fond memories! (It's amazing how quickly real life eats all your time once you get back from relaxing)

We particularly miss the wonderful breakfasts - fresh fruit salad every day with homemade jams (the lemon one in particular was great!), then perfectly cooked full englishes, porridge or pancakes. They gave us plenty of energy for all our adventures!

Sue and Steve gave us a lovely greeting with homemade cake, tea, and a friendly chinwag. They gave us some great local knowledge of Portinscale, Keswick just a 20 minute walk away, and the wider area. They were thoroughly helpful and accommodating throughout and generally just good people to be around.

They additionally helped out with wet clothes, muddy shoes and takeaway rubbish on request (the chippy was a good recommendation as well!).

The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable with a sweet little sofa set and bird watching binoculars which we used on Peterson the pheasant who frequently the flowery garden. The shower even had locally made soaps.

Portinscale itself is beautiful and there are plenty of walks, restaurants and activities nearby. Walking around the lake, ice climbing at Keswick climbing center, going to the puzzling place museum, visiting the stone circles in the middle of the night (or in the day) and going on adventures with Keswick Extreme were among our favourites. And believe it or not, so was the pencil museum.

Sue and Steve - Thanks for making sure we didn't die on Scafell Pike, for the scrummy packed lunches you made for us to take up there, and all recommendations and hospitality.

Would love to visit again!
Holly & Dan

Room Tip: We were in room 3 - great size and lovely view, including of the pheasant in the garden

Hi Holly and Dan

Wow, thank you so much for your amazing review, we really do appreciate it and its great to know when guests have enjoyed their stay as much as you did. It was fun to read your review and remember what you did while you were here. We didn't realise you had named 'Peterson' but that is what we will call him from now on! We would love to welcome you both back any time.

Steve and Sue are excellent hosts, they make you feel most welcome. They know the area very well and are more than happy to provide advice on the sights and surroundings as well as the best places to eat and drink. The rooms were clean and neat and the bed was comfortable. The room had a lake view that was very pleasant. I would highly recommend.
