We wanted to try something different so we went to the blue cap. It didn't seem to busy but the waiting staff didn't seem to happy seating us with out a reservation. We were put near the dj who was goin to do the quiz, with a speaker right by our table. I asked for somewhere different but was told it doesn't start till 9 by then it was 8 o'clock. Our Starters came pretty quickly but we then waited 45 mins for our mains and the quiz had started. I asked the quiz master to turn the speakers down and was basically told tuff it's goin to get louder with the music anyway. This spoilt our whole evening and I shall not be returning as we felt were not treated appropriately

We have been lucky to try this pub on two separate occasions being 18 months apart.

On both these occasions evening and late afternoon - I can honestly say I have thoroughly enjoyed my visits and will be back again when in the area.

As always we found the staff friendly and approachable - the place is clean - good selection of meals and very reasonably priced.

Definitely worth a visit cos you won’t be disappointed.

I’ll be honest - a pub chain attached to a premier inn didn’t fill me with joy ... however this is a great place in a beautiful old building. The staff are warm and friendly, there’s a good traditional british pub menu and it’s executed really well. Great for kids too as they brought out toys and high chair etc. I’ll be back!
