“A wonderful visit!”
Reviewed 13 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

I and five girlfriends recently stayed at Villa D'Carik, we had a wonderful time! The villa is peaceful, clean and comfortable. The bedrooms have their own bathrooms and air conditioning. The staff at the villa are attentive and unobtrusive. The pool has a lovely view of the rice paddies. Kadek and Made, the manager and cook were extremely helpful in arranging outings, any concerns we had and making us delightful dinners when we didn't want to venture out in the evenings.
My only complaint would be that the villa is off the beaten track, which is great for getting away from the busyness of Ubud, but there's a 500 metre walk from the road and the daylight is quickly gone by 6:30PM, so it was too dark for us to venture out in the evening. We were fine with that but something to consider if you would like to participate in the night life of Ubud.

Dear Heather,

Thank you for the very positive review.
With respect to the access, we remind all our guests, that the staff are happy to assist with your walk to/from the villa, at night. There are torches available for personal use, as well as strong torches which the staff can use, along the track. The drivers can ring ahead, so that you will be met at the drop off point, by one of the staff.

As we have now opened our second villa, Villa DCarik 2, which is 100 metres closer to the pick-up point, we will be installing lighting for the last 120 metres to the villa.

Thanks again,

Andrew

We had an amazing week in Villa D'Carik - the perfect balance of fun, relaxation and culture.
The villa is beautiful and a luxury introduction to the Balinese way of living, with amazing views you could sit and watch all day, even from the cool of the pool!
The staff were super friendly and helpful, there when you needed them and not when you didn't. The food was delicious and they were more than happy to accommodated for the kids - nothing was too much trouble.

“So much more than it's name”

Villa D'Carik means villa by the paddy fields. Such a simple name but it's so much more than that.

You would have read other reviews that it's hard to access the villa via the small lane. But do not worry too much. While it is a bit narrow, it's cemented so it's not a big problem even if you have kids. And the staff are always happy to help with any luggage or shopping. I have added pictures here so you know what to expect.

The rooms are lovely, especially the ones which are next to the pool and face the paddy fields and Mount Agong.

The staff are very helpful and do all they can to accommodate your every need.

2 things you have to do when staying here. Firstly, wake up at 5am to witness the majestic sunrise. Secondly, get a massage by the pool.

This is the place to stay if you're looking for peace, tranquility and being in a 5 star accommodation set within nature.

Thank you for your kind review of our villa. An update on the walking track to the villa. With our second villa (100 metres way) to be completed by June 2016, we will be installing lights on the walking track for the last 200 metres. We hope to host you again, in the near future.

“Great rural Ubud family experience and adventure.”

Great staff: always friendly, helpful and effective.
Location:
- peaceful, private (away from busy Ubud)
- great sunrise, Mt.Agung and rice field views
- villa layout great for two families or a group of friends
- surrounded by traditional Balinese rural and village life
Local attractions (within walking distance): John Hardy's Bambu Indah, Gaya Ceramic, Gaya Gelato and Moksa vegan restaurant
Recommended for peaceful rural Ubud getaway.
Transport to and from villa readily available but the path to the villa would benefit from extra lighting (solar lighting?) for night time returns (we never had any problems but would be helpful especially for visitors with children/older people).
