“Return visit.”

If we could live here we would, returned this year for a two week visit, and have already booked for next year for two weeks.
Just love this house and the area.
Nia Roo has everything you need for self catering accommodation, all modern facilities, very tastefully decorated, with the most tremendous views to sit and look at.
Christine and Colin who own this property, can not do enough to make sure your stay, is enjoyable. And will assist if you have any queries.
The herons on the Loch were in abundance this year, also saw otters, Eagles , and not forgetting the deer, that came to graze behind the cottage..

Feel very sad, when we leave as it's just bliss, for relaxing, and enjoying the local scenery, with walks etc.
We take our Son with us , who is confined to a wheelchair, and we manage perfectly .
Already looking forward to next year.

Thanks again to Christine and Colin, for allowing us the use of your lovely home .

“Fantastic Relaxing Holiday Destination”
Reviewed 20 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We rented Nia Roo for a week leading up to Easter and were 100% pleased with both the cottage and the area. The cottage has stunning views across to Loch Duich and the surrounding hills, and the view changes constantly with the light, the weather and also as the tidal loch water ebbs and flows. We had stunning glass like water one morning and later in the day once the tide has withdrawn, a marshland teaming with bird life.

The cottage has everything you could possibly need for a holiday and the rooms are cosy and comfortable, with the living room, sun room and two of the three bedrooms offering loch views. The bathrooms are large and clean and the power showers tick the box of one of the basic measures of good accommodation - fast flowing hot showers.

The surrounding area is stunningly beautiful and we recommend trips to the ferry at Glenelg, Plockton and walking on Skye (see walk 13 in the walking guidebook in the living room drawer). The latter is a 6 mile hike on a well marked path, with beautiful views down into the bay and as far as the Isle of Rum. Well worth the aching feet...

We walked to the Kintail Lodge on several nights (about a 20 minute gentle stroll beside the loch past the very hairy (and a bit smelly) goats). The food is good and there's plenty of choice for kids and adults alike and it's a lovely warm atmosphere. I recommend booking if you're going after 7pm. It's also open for lunch. We also recommend the Plockton Inn in the bay at Plockton after an hour's kayaking on the gentle waters, but try to go when the tide is high. Plockton also provided a surprise walk. We walked down the main road on the shore front until it came to a sharp left hand bend. The big house on the corner has a "private" sign on the gate, but just up the drive is a woodland walk (you can see the stile if you look hard) and a sign saying you are welcome to stroll around the grounds. Walk "Ian's Walk" here to reach some lovely secluded bays (less than a mile away) and lots of bird life.

The area is so quiet. Even on Easter weekend it was practically deserted and the roads as far as Loch Lomand were free of any major traffic. If you like seclusion and peace - this is the place to be.

A trip around the loch at Kyle is also a good way to spend an hour or so.

Overall, a fantastic trip well worth the 12 hour drive...

Liked best: The views and a great comfortable base.
Liked least: Sofas were a bit uncomfortable - but we rarely used them as the sun room was the best sitting room.

“Just perfect”
Reviewed 4 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

Last day today, and we wish we were staying another week.
This cottage is first class, has everything you could wish for a real home from home.
All mod cons and decorated to a superb level.
The best thing is the views, they are astounding ,you could literally sit all day in the conservatory , and watch the loch and the wildlife. You would not be bored.
We were out and about every day, and this cottage is central to everything.
Christine and her husband Colin ,were delightful ,and very helpful and Colin picked us up to see the local stags and sheep.
Christine arrived with the promised venison burgers.
Will return and highly recommend this cottage, Nia Roo , to us was perfection.
Callum had a great time as well and enjoyed the ferry from mallaig to skye.

Many thanks .

We have over the last 15/20 years rented a lot of holiday lets and this has to be up there at the top, for there was absolutely everything you could need.
The property was spotlessly clean and everything was supplied to make our stay very comfortable. Unfortunately we were unable to meet Colin or Christine as we were always out when they called (the weather being good for a change)but we would like to thank them for their hospitality anyway and we would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone.

“Photographs do not do this property justice.”

The property is situated only minutes off the main road and overlooks the loch which changes as the tide ebbs and flows. The cottage itself is maintained to a very high standard of decor and cleanliness. Everything you need has being provided by the owners Colin and Christine both we meet and are very friendly and offered us good advise on places to eat and places to visit to find wildlife.
Colin pointed me in the direction of where to see wild stag. What a sight !!
The area is a photographers delight and plenty to do and see to keep the family occupied and happy. More than happy to recommend this cottage to anyone looking to visit this part of beautiful Scotland and we will return so i suppose thats as good a recommendation as anyone can give.
Thank you Colin and Christine we enjoyed our Highland experience and you hospitality.
