You shouldn't go to Pousada do Sol expecting luxury--that's not the idea. Rooms are modest but comfortable and quiet. It's the perfect place for a family needing a base of operations for exploring Chapada dos Veadeiros. Operator Vasu was so sweet--she took an active interest in helping us our young family find the best trails and waterfalls to visit, as well as ensuring that our stay was enjoyable. Breakfasts were a treat--fresh juices, eggs, and blackberry jam made from the fruit trees nearby that attract macaws, two by two, swooping down from the sky. After breakfast, make it a priority to drink your coffee in the courtyard and watch your children try to feed the macaws seeds and berries.

We spent 3 or 4 nights here and didn't want to leave. The buffet breakfast is extremely good, all fresh and homemade - bread, cakes, jams, yogurt etc. But don't forget to ask for the eggs. (They are available upon request.) The guestrooms surround a beautiful tropical garden with orange, banana, and lemon? (I thought I was in bali a few times)The rooms are simple but very comfortable and if you wake up early enough in the morning, you can even feed the wild parrots that usually come for a visit. This pousada also has a 24-hour self-service cafe and lounge with free wifi. And it's a very good place to make new friends. The owner and her family are very kind and very helpful, and just made the stay that much more enjoyable.

Room tip: The owner let us choose our room. There is even one room that has Japanese decoration.
