We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Centara Q Rayong. Hotel staff were really helpful, friendly and accommodating. Although some did not speak much English, they always found somebody to help translate and help us with our requests.

We stayed in the Deluxe Ocean Facing Suites, which were clean and comfortable. It was great to sit on the balcony and read, overlooking the infinity pool and out to the ocean. The beds were very comfy and air con worked well. Wifi access across the whole resort was also really good.

Facilities were of a high standard – the gym is small but has a good variety of cardio and machine weights. Air conditioned inside, which is key! The infinity pool was always clean and the area around it is well maintained, with plenty of sun loungers available. There is also a kid’s entertainment area up above the bar, which would be great for a rainy day when the pool can’t be used!

We enjoyed a few sessions at the in-house spa because it was so good! The Rayong Relax package was great value and the staff made us feel like we were being pampered from the moment we entered until we left.
Restaurant food was great quality – their resort prices were comparable to going out for dinner in Melbourne. The buffet breakfast had a lot of variety and both western and eastern cuisine options. There are a few other local options along the beach front which are much cheaper, but we found that the quality of Qube (hotel restaurant) was the best so were happy to pay for this.

To get there, we took a taxi from the airport, which was 2700 baht. We were poorly organized on arrival – there are cheaper private options if you book in advance.

I was really impressed by the hotel. It's located on a small space which is rather unusual for Centara, but the space is used so well it makes it so cute! I loved the rooms, with beautiful sea view, simple and clean design, our room had a lot of light wood installed and the beds were super comfortable! The beach is very small and rather secluded. There is a chill bar next door called Drift Bar which was great for sunset drinks and they also organize fun boat tours. Lots of Thai Seafood restaurants 5 - 10 minutes drive away. Overall we had an excellent stay for the weekend.

Stayed at this resort for 4 nights to attend a wedding. Great venue, great location, room clean and comfortable. Staff were excellent. The attention to detail and the effort put into organising the wedding which started with breakfast at 8am, and finished at 10pm, was just magnificent. The staff then started work again the next morning, after cleaning up everything the night before. Long day for them. All done with grace and professionalism .
Thank you so much for making it such a memorable occasion. Only problem I had was the stairs, but that was more to do with my age I guess.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view of the pool and beach

"This is absolutely bonkers!" my husband said yet again as we climbed the 70 steps to our deluxe room at the end of another afternoon at the pool. I won't repeat what he said he'd like to do to the person who designed this hotel with endless flights of stairs, but it wasn't very complimentary ... Yes, we could have taken the small shuttle bus from the beach up to reception and then walked round the dining room along a concrete ledge (!) which we negotiated every time we went for breakfast, but we reckoned that climbing those stairs was probably good for us anyway. But if you have small children, be aware that there are some unguarded drops in places into beds of ferns ...

Stairs, steps and ledges apart, there was a lot we liked about this hotel. Our room, on the top floor of the deluxe building, was spacious, bright, airy, and clean, with both bath and large rainshower. The bed was very comfortable. We had a large balcony with a lovely sofa, ideal for relaxing, and this was also a great area for drying wet swimming costumes. Loved the view to the pool and beach.

The food was good. The chef does Thai food but also knows how to produce good pasta and other Western food. The wholemeal croissants at breakfast were delicious. Fruit is of excellent quality. Eggs and pancakes are good when the staff remember to keep the burners lit under the dishes in which they're kept warm! The small restaurant by the pool is air-conditioned and comfortable for eating in the evening, and one of the few places to avoid mosquitoes and sandflies (we did get badly bitten during our week's stay).

The saltwater pool was a pleasure to swim in. The area where the loungers are could do with a bit of a re-seeding as far as the grass goes, as swimmers tend to get their feet dirty on the earth patches where the grass has become thin and then use the pool toilets, soiling the clean floors as they do so. The beach is clean in front of the hotel but not to either side and it is really depressing to see the high-water mark of garbage brought in by the tide. Bottles, discarded flop-flops, and other flotsam and jetsam are a real eyesore. However, the beach is beautiful at sunset when the litter is less apparent.

When we booked the hotel we had not realised that it was quite so remote. The name is rather misleading - Centara Q Resort Rayong is actually 47 kilometres from Rayong; in other words, the best part of an hour away! There is really nowhere within walking distance and when we asked about taxis and tours at reception the lady looked at us as though she had never heard of either! No one told us that there was a shuttle bus to restaurants and shops a little further along the coast (I have only discovered this fact by reading a recent review on this site!) and we only found these towards the end of our stay by walking along our beach to the Mae Phim shrine on the headland, climbing up various steps, and then down to the next beach where we eventually saw another hotel and a wide range of seafood and other restaurants!

However, on the whole we enjoyed our stay, which was very restful, and we found the hotel to be good value for money, so think it deserves 4 out of 5.

Good hotel to stay for your holiday with family. I stayed in deluxe room can see the beach on balcony. The beach so clean, my child can play with sand all the evening. The view on beach is very stunning on the evening also. Breakfast good.
