We stopped here on the way through looking for somewhere off the road for lunch. The town was deserted and not at all promising. Turned out all the locals were having lunch in La Maison - always a good sign!

The atmosphere and decor was relaxed, local and very friendly. We had simple food done very well; moreish scabei, parma ham, grilled vegetables and lamb cutlets were all excellent. At just under €50 it was on the expensive side, but well worth it.

Thank George W

It was a surprise to stumble on such an excellent restaurant in an unpromising town like Fornovo. It is a Michelin Guide 2017 restaurant. The fabric of the building marks it out as historic. I think it dates back to the 15th/16th century. There is exposed brickwork, arches, wooden beams and a stone floor. It has a marvellous ambience. It is the kind of place for a special occasion. They offer traditional cuisine that includes famous ham, fresh pasta and meat dishes. As in most non-tourist Italian towns, there was no English menu. The service was marvellous. The waiter was very helpful, and the chef actually came out of the kitchen to explain the dishes we had ordered in English. We ordered Affettato Misto con Torta Fritta, Frittatina, Spaghetti all'amatriciana and Pasta gigli a la carbonara. It was a beautiful meal. The waiter recommended an inexpensive local white wine which was delicious. La Maison offers great value for money.

It's really cute to find such beauty in a very small village.
The restaurant is amazing with vaults and stone columns, cuisine is even better with a young touch. You can find traditional dishes (meat, fried bread, local hams) but also new stuff in a very fancy presentation.
Lovely and recommended, better to reserve a table.

We found this place on the way from the Tuscany west coast to Milano during a business trip, and we will surely stop here again next time because the food is delicious, the ambient is picturesque and the staff super kind.
The owner made us taste special local cold cuts and cheeses, followed by home made ravioli. It was very hard to pic anything from the menu because everything looked amazing, next time!
Bill was super good considering we also had red wine, the one recommend by the host.

We was driving from Parma to La Spezia and due to a queue we decided to exit and to have a lunch according to Trip Advisor suggest.
All was good : starter with ham, grana cheese and fresh vegetables (pinzimonio); tortellini of potatoes with truffle ; grilled fillet steak with baked potatoes.
Ok local Lambrusco red wine.
Price is medium-high , but money is well-spent.
