“Stunning old-meets-new accommodations in beautiful garden location”
Reviewed 20 March 2017 for a stay in March 2017

Only a half hour drive from central Dublin but feels like another world. June and her family are super friendly and welcoming, full of helpful guidance and advice. The renovated flat is visually striking but amazingly comfortable, a great spot to relax, very pleasant. The gardens of course are beautiful but you're also able to take long walks in the surrounding countryside - great views from the hilltop above the property. Good shopping and pubs in nearby Blessington. We followed June's recommendation and had a truly memorable meal at the Ballymore Inn a 20 minute drive away. And the drive across the mountains to the attractions in East Wicklow is amazing if a little hairy. Don't do it at night! Highly recommended especially for lovers of gardens and gorgeous countryside while still staying close to the city (half hour drive to the airport outside rush hour).

“Another beautiful holiday home at June Blake's garden”
Reviewed 21 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We spent our second wonderful week in Ireland at the Turkey House - right next door to our first week's accommodations at the Cow House; on the same property (June Blake's Garden), it is another unique and special holiday home. The location right outside of Blessington was perfect for us. A short trip to anything we wanted to visit including my wife's hometown, Russborough House, the Wicklow Mountains, Glendalough, Brittas Bay beach, Dublin, Blessington Lakes, fishing, pubs, etc. We were busy ;-)

We split our two-week stay between the two houses due to availability, but it worked out perfectly and gave us the opportunity to try out the new Turkey House. Like the Cow House, the Turkey House is fresh and modern with all the amenities - in an old farm setting. The transformation from an old stone farm building to a unique, cozy, holiday home is stunning. Radiant heat concrete floors, the concrete spiral staircase (Wow!), all the natural wood, plus the old stone; it is another gorgeous design and a great use of the space. The bedrooms are on the ground level and a generous size; especially the master which also featured a free-standing tub in the room that was very nice. The upper floor was a very large living area and kitchen with wood floors, family/tv area, and a reading space on the far end. There is a fireplace, but we got very lucky with the weather during our trip and didn't need it.

A perfect self-catering home and just the right place for our extended stay (three of us). The garden was absolutely stunning (June Blake's Garden). To get up early and walk around the garden with a hot cup of tea in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening was a highlight of our vacation.

Our hosts could not have been more welcoming or gracious. Communication during booking was quick and thorough, check-in was easy, everything we needed was there, and they were close by if something came up; our move between the two homes was seamless. We would see them often around the property and have great conversations about its history as a working farm and subsequent transformation into a beautiful garden and accommodations. We had discussions about Ireland, June's garden, advice on where to eat, suggestions on sites to visit; etc. We felt very at home.

We are already planning our next trip to Ireland and know exactly where to stay!

“Amazing place to stay!”
Reviewed 25 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

The Turkey house is amazing place to stay. The beautiful building is a mixture of old and new. It is an upside down house which has lots of character with a modern twist. It is spacious but also has a warm and cosy feel to it. We really enjoyed cooking in its well equipped kitchen and chilling in the dining/lounge area. The bedrooms are grand and have 2 luxurious showers and a free standing bath to relax in. To top it off its in the beautiful location of June Blake's Gardens, which is a must see, when visiting Blessington. Such a stunning colourful garden. June herself, is very friendly and welcoming, she gave us lots of information on places to visit in the area. Her staff were also very helpful too on our stay. Such an special place to stay, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants that special experience.

“Potential but not properly finished!!!”

Very stylish and has potential but some severe teething problems for us like no satellite tv, despite advert; no tv aerial initially, in fact; no internet as not switched on properly, very few kitchen utensils; toilet which needed constant attention; exposed wires and unfinished ventilation mechanism in bathroom; leaky bath and overpoweringly strong odour of varnish/paint; bright orange moulting towels ... Windows needing blinds; bathroom doors needing locks ... Best do a technical run through with friends or family for a full week before you charge the public ... Good things=showers; dishwasher; garden; near Dublin. Hopefully, will be better in future!!
