“Handy base on Wild Atlantic way”

Stayed for a week in the coldest time of the year. Fireplace is great in the dark evenings when wind is howling outside and rain hits the windows. Somehow it happened that most mornings were sunny and fine for exploring. There are plenty of things to do - sandy beaches with high white dunes, Rossbeg bay, rod fishing in the Owenea river, Maghera caves and waterfall, cosy Ardara village with shops and live music on Saturdays, beaches of Portnoo. All these are within few minutes drive or an hour cycle at most.
For those who fancy a swim in the North Atlantic, go west from Ardara, follow directions to Loughros point and set your GPS to 54.7844, -8.5164 where is great secluded beach ideal for a swim except on very low tide.
Owner Mary was very helpful giving directions, logs and turf were ready and the place warmed up for our arrival.
You have to pay for electricity but given that the price for the whole 3 bedroom house was very reasonable, it's no big deal.
The house has all the utensils for cooking and TV with local channels.
Very nice base for exploring that part of Ireland and very reasonable priced too.
