Nice atmosphere and always a seat. The food is good and consistent. Porter House Red is a nice pint.
Normally get parked close by on the prom. We have eaten pizza and the meat and veg. The live music at the weekend is worth a trip.

This place needs to sack its Chef!! I have NEVER tasted such an awful meal which was labelled as " Roast Beef!!" You cannot call what was dished up a roast. It was just awful. Please walk on by & do not waste your money here. However, staff made up for the food that was being dished up. They were warm & welcomed us in.

Hi Rachel B,

Thank you for your comments which we would like to address, but in order to do so could you let us know the time of your visit & how many were in your group? Also if this issue was brought to the attention of your server? With these details we can ascertain your table location and then speak to your server and our chef to ensure this does not happen again. If you could please reply to phbray@theporterhouse.ie.

Kind Regards

Called in for lunch at 12:15 on a sunny day and the place looked as if it was still asleep. Took ages to find a member of staff to ask what the soup of the day was. She then took ages to go through to the kitchens to find out.
Our order was taken and we sat for probably ten minutes before the soup - leek and potato - was served up. It was tepid at best and homogenised so no sign of any leeks or potatoes!! We sent the soups back and five minutes later they reappeared only slightly warmer than they had been before!!
The bread was lovely!!
We got the impression that this is a night-time venue and could not recommend it for a lunchtime snack!!

I wrote a good review for the Porter House, but since that review, we have been back a few times, and the food is not so good at all, what happened, we are paying a good price for the food, why has the standard dropped ?, the staff were still nice and the place is nice and cosy , but with out the good food, its not the same.
we will be back when we hear that the good food back.
