Welcome to Narnia
Take away the weird talking animals from the scene and you are in this enchanted world of Leprechauns Lough Monsters and Fairies with breathtaking views at every corner. (By the way, BEWARE, Leprechauns will play around with your GPS, trust me on this)
Peaceful and regenerating. One week here was worth 6 relaxing at home.
Hardly perceptible nor audible from the terrace, a charming stream runs down the bottom of the garden, all the way down to Lough Abisdealy that can be viewed from the terrace. (The local say they have a local Nessie living in it)
We were seven at this property. We had a very comfortable stay in this very spacious property.
It comprised of 4 bedrooms. 3 double bedrooms and one with twin beds. One bedroom has a en-suite dressing room and en-suite shower room and WC. The rest of the rooms share a bathroom with bath, shower cabin and WC in one bathroom and a separate WC in the laundry room.
We also enjoyed a reading room with view on Lough Abisdealy, a large kitchen, a dinning room and TV room with sat and apple TV.
Also available at the property is a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and large gas BBQ. good Wi-Fi.
We enjoyed a warm welcome from Betty who was charming, down to providing us with a full Irish breakfast for us to cook in the morning following our late arrival. She was also there when we needed help with teething problems around the house.
The house, on the outside is ongoing some transformation and still needs some cosmetics to be finalised, but it is suitable and clean as it stands and will only get better as work finishes. (before the 2014 full season I understand) The inside is on the other hand finished of cause and is well presented.
Skibbereen is a couple of miles down the road and is full of shops, souvenirs, and groceries stores. The town centre does only consist of one main street and you will go up and down it in no time, but it is worth doing.
Groceries stores, you have a choice of 3 big enough stores, Super Value, Spar and LIDL for the main ones, we found Super value to be the best for the fish and meat counters. Also a 7am till 10pm Costcutter at a petrol station for fresh baguettes and croissants in the morning and a full tank for the car.
In town you will also find pubs with live music, unfortunately we could not find one with traditional Irish music. For that you will have to travel a little further. Google “What's up in Cork” when there.
Must see, Blatimore, Clonakilty, Kinsale, Cape Clear Island, Fastnet Rock if you are lucky with the weather the dolphins or whales even and sooooo much more if you have time.
