We were the only ones when we toured and the OPW attendant was very kind to briefly walk us through the history before we took the tour. It held importance to me because it was important to Saint Brendan and the grounds and the cathedral were very well maintained. Well worth a visit!!

The weather caused us to inadequately examine the cathedral. A friend with us filled in some of the background but could have done with more information on the spot.

We stayed in the village so walked to this lovely old ruins of a cathedral. The beginnings of the cathedral date to 1117. There is also a graveyard on the grounds which is used till now.

One of the few standing cathedrals you will find that is largely intact except for its roof. Many photographic angles. Worth the drive if you like cathedrals and photography. No fee, unless you go into the visitors' center.

Said to have been important to St Brendan. A little inaccessible but worth the effort. Easy parking in the nearby roads. Free to walk around but the is a small museum that we did not visit because of time limits. Very interesting architectural detail and the graveyard still appears to be in use. Worth a detour if monuments are to your liking.
