“Lovely spot in proper rural Ireland”

Stayed a few days in this lovely little bungalow run by the super friendly Connaughton family. Comfortable, with everything you will need - really wished we'd had to use the cosy-looking stove. Down a nice lane away from the road so perfect for the kids, who used the bikes and scooters provided by Paul and Meryl. Also took the kids for walks across the fields, stopping to look at the sheep, horses and chickens. Great place to base yourselves, with easy access to lakes, walks and the coastline not far away. Nearby Carrick on Shannon is a pretty little town on the river and well worth a visit. Topped it all off by securing a babysitter and spending a night in the local pub, The Thatch, where we we treated to Guinness, songs, dancing and all sorts more. It was like an out take from a Hollywood movie about Ireland, but apparently what the locals do for entertainment a couple of times a week anyway! Fabulous.
We'd highly recommend Scregg Cottage for a relaxing getaway and a reminder of how lovely the countryside is.

“lovely quaint cosy cottage”
Reviewed 2 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Just spent a week here, lovely wee hidden gem, great base to travel out and explore quite a few different counties. Kids loved being able to go see the animals and the owners, Meryl and Paul were lovely, even gave us wellies and let our twins play with the many bikes and carts in their garage. Homely and cosy.

“Peace and tranquility in abundance.”
Reviewed 17 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Scregg Cottage is the ideal place for to get away from it all, if you like the bright lights and going out then Carrick-on-Shannon is 10 minutes drive away. My hosts Paul and Muriel were really friendly and approachable. I spoke to Paul on the benefits of attracting more anglers and the advantages of a store room and bait fridge and this is now in process. The cottage is ideal for anglers, it has everything you need to enjoy your stay in Ireland. I would thouroughly recommend this to any party of anglers looking for somewhere to stay, the renowned fishing stands on the Mud Flats in Carrick-on-Shannon are less than 10 minutes from your location and there are of course an uncountable number of other waters to try. I wish Paul and Muriel every success for the future and hope to re-visit when I return to Ireland.

“Homely, peaceful, comfortable setting in small farm in lovely countryside”
Reviewed 11 May 2015 for a stay in March 2014

I was one of the first guests at the farm house and the Connaughton family could not have been more welcoming or anxious to please. I found everything extremely clean and tidy and although not 5 star ( I was not expecting or paying for 5 *) it was a lovely homely cottage and very comfortable and well equipped. I am a country lover and having the horses, and dogs around and the freedom to explore and be part of the place was a positive delight
