“Peace and tranquility in abundance.”
Reviewed 17 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Scregg Cottage is the ideal place for to get away from it all, if you like the bright lights and going out then Carrick-on-Shannon is 10 minutes drive away. My hosts Paul and Muriel were really friendly and approachable. I spoke to Paul on the benefits of attracting more anglers and the advantages of a store room and bait fridge and this is now in process. The cottage is ideal for anglers, it has everything you need to enjoy your stay in Ireland. I would thouroughly recommend this to any party of anglers looking for somewhere to stay, the renowned fishing stands on the Mud Flats in Carrick-on-Shannon are less than 10 minutes from your location and there are of course an uncountable number of other waters to try. I wish Paul and Muriel every success for the future and hope to re-visit when I return to Ireland.

“Homely, peaceful, comfortable setting in small farm in lovely countryside”
Reviewed 11 May 2015 for a stay in March 2014

I was one of the first guests at the farm house and the Connaughton family could not have been more welcoming or anxious to please. I found everything extremely clean and tidy and although not 5 star ( I was not expecting or paying for 5 *) it was a lovely homely cottage and very comfortable and well equipped. I am a country lover and having the horses, and dogs around and the freedom to explore and be part of the place was a positive delight

“Lovely, atmospheric stone-built farm cottage near Carrick on Shannon”
Reviewed 11 May 2015 for a stay in December 2014

We stayed In Scregg Cottage for a few days in December on the recommendation of a friend. We wanted a relaxing, comfortable short retreat away from the mayhem and madness of work and term-time family life. It was the middle of winter and the weather wasn't great so we lit the wood-burner, hunkered down with mugs of tea and some good books and totally relaxed. The cottage has been really nicely converted with pretty interiors. It is well equipped with two bedrooms (a double and a twin with bunk beds) and has a lovely warm, friendly atmosphere. There is an open-plan kitchen sitting room. Our hosts who are a lovely family with young children live in the farmhouse next door and made us feel very welcome. There is a fantastic local Irish pub just up the road - the night we visited there was a live music shindig going on - it was great fun and we would highly recommend. We thoroughly enjoyed it and have already highly recommended to plenty of friends. BTW If you happen to love horses there were some lovely horses on the farm!

“a little irish gem”
Reviewed 11 May 2015 for a stay in November 2014

I went for a short break with a friend and her 9 year old son. This is such a sweet cottage, with everything you can possibly need, loved the log burner, which kept the cottage toasty even in Nov, and it is wonderfully rural, fields in every direction but with the owners close by if required. Its a short drive to Carrick-on-Shannon which has nice waterside hotels and shopping, but with the owners horses, ducks and sheep there is a proper family farm feel to the cottage. Going back this summer.
