We stayed In Scregg Cottage for a few days in December on the recommendation of a friend. We wanted a relaxing, comfortable short retreat away from the mayhem and madness of work and term-time family life. It was the middle of winter and the weather wasn't great so we lit the wood-burner, hunkered down with mugs of tea and some good books and totally relaxed. The cottage has been really nicely converted with pretty interiors. It is well equipped with two bedrooms (a double and a twin with bunk beds) and has a lovely warm, friendly atmosphere. There is an open-plan kitchen sitting room. Our hosts who are a lovely family with young children live in the farmhouse next door and made us feel very welcome. There is a fantastic local Irish pub just up the road - the night we visited there was a live music shindig going on - it was great fun and we would highly recommend. We thoroughly enjoyed it and have already highly recommended to plenty of friends. BTW If you happen to love horses there were some lovely horses on the farm!

I went for a short break with a friend and her 9 year old son. This is such a sweet cottage, with everything you can possibly need, loved the log burner, which kept the cottage toasty even in Nov, and it is wonderfully rural, fields in every direction but with the owners close by if required. Its a short drive to Carrick-on-Shannon which has nice waterside hotels and shopping, but with the owners horses, ducks and sheep there is a proper family farm feel to the cottage. Going back this summer.
