We were on a Rick Steeves "Best of Ireland " tour in September 2017. This was our stopping place in Kinsale. The location was great and only a few minutes walk to the center of town.

There was a very nice sitting area in 2 rooms for chatting and reading. The rooms were cozy and nice and had a tv, wi fi, phone.

The breakfast was very nice and complete. The staff was pleasant and helpful.

Room tip: The hotel is on a quiet street so all the rooms will be good.

We drove from Shannon Airport to Friar's Lodge in Kinsale after flying over from the US in the early morning hours. For whatever reason, my GPS took me through Cork city before we arrived in lovely Kinsale on a beautiful, sunny morning. I have previously stayed at Friar's on 2 other visits and love the location and private car park behind the hotel. We stayed for 2 nights and walked to all the pubs, restaurants and attractions. When we arrived around 10 am, Maureen Tierney, the owner, offered us a choice of rooms. We decided to stay in room 109 that overlooked the front of the hotel. She is an amazing owner and we enjoyed our 2 nights in a very clean, spacious room. Believe it or not, I stayed in the same room in 2008 during one of my previous visits. The breakfast offered full Irish breakfast, cereal, fruits, pancakes and assorted pastries. On Saturday morning, fresh fish was also offered. I can't say enough about Maureen's hospitality.

Room tip: Room 109 - spacious and very clean

The Lodge has spacious rooms however is a little tired. Wheelchair accessible Breakfast included. So far our most expensive stay in Ireland for a triple room. Definitely not the nicest. I am just awake and the bed is not comfortable. The toilet paper has a cardboard feel. Our host is gracious. We are literally 5 min walk to town centre. Parking is the reason we chose Friar's. I would look elsewhere if in Kinsale again.

I arrived in Kinsale as a work stop over and called to "The white house" I met Steven who was in reception and he didn't have any rooms. He phoned around Kinsale looking for a room and got me into the Friars Lodge. On arrival the welcome was warm and friendly and the room was perfect. Breakfast was beautiful and I got a goods night sleep.

Considering the maze of narrow streets in Kinsale, I think we were most excited that Friar's had off-street parking! But our room was large and very comfortable with all the needed amenities, and breakfast was delicious with many choices.
