We booked this hotel on the day via Booking.com due to the apparent value for money, with an available room and a pool. It was a Monday night.

We arrived to find reception not particularly welcoming, no one about to help us with our bags (I was with my elderly mother and children 8/10), no lift in the place, a pool that almost had more people in it than water, lol, and a restaurant to busy to serve us after a long day of sightseeing.

The room was pleasant enough on a corner with large windows, but the pull out sofa bed needed replacing due to the lumps and bumps... luckily we had children to take it on!

It was also lucky that we were in walking distance to Kenmare town to get dinner, and that I was there to lug our very heavy suitcases up and down two flights of stairs to our room. In a place this large and busy, I am surprised there was no concierge in place.

This is obviously a great place for families, in a great tourist location, so I am not sure what was going on on the night we were there... but it wasn’t impressive and doubt I would return.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your recent review and comments. Apologies that we did not meet your expectations during your recent stay. Some parts of the hotel do not have a lift, but we would always have someone available to assist with bags if necessary, apologies that this was not facilitated on your stay. The restaurant was fully booked at the time, due to the volume of guests staying, we do offer the same menu in the bar if the restaurant is full.
Once again apologies on our behalf, and we hope that you may come back to us in the near future, and that we can turn around your experience to a more positive one.
Kind regards,
Andrew Rees, General Manager

The hotel has great facilities however the room had no air conditioning which lead to a very uncomfortable stay even with the window fully open.
No complimentary bottled water in the room which is the norm even for a 3 star hotel.
The staff at reception and in the dining room very friendly and very courteous.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review. Good to hear that you enjoyed our facilities and friendly staff. The weather was unseasonably warm for Ireland, we don’t normally experience that level of heat.
I hope that you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Ireland, and that we may welcome you back again in the future.

Kind regards,
Andrew Rees, General Manager

We celebrated the best day of our lives on Friday the 11th of May 2018 at The Kenmare Bay Hotel and we cannot recommend it enough! We contacted the hotel in May 2017 after we got engaged and we spoke to Sile who recommended us to come view the hotel. So off we went on a Sunday spin from Cork to meet with Alan who showed us around and sat with us for over an hour going through everything. We immediately fell in love with the place! It was exactly what we were looking for, a beautiful room in a beautiful setting with delicious food and amazing staff...at an affordable price! We were able to bring our own beer for the drinks reception and wine for the meal which helped us cut costs also! We booked our day right away! Throughout our year long engagement Sile was our point of contact and I cannot highlight how amazing she is!! She helped me so much and calmed me when I needed reassurance! She was always contactable and always super friendly! In January 2018 we found out we were expecting our first baby Sile was actually one of the first people we told as I was nervous about being 20 weeks pregnant on our wedding day, and she was so supportive I can’t even begin to tell you! We had our menu tasting in February and brought my parents along for the treat, the four of us were in food comas by the end of it!! The food, amazing!!! Throughout the year every time we stayed in the hotel the service was better than some 5 star hotels we have stayed in! Hanneke was superb in managing our guests bookings and extremely helpful! Cut to the big day....Mossy (driver of the car the hotel provides included in our package) drove up to Cork to pick my Dad & I up from my parents home and bring us to the church! He then brought my husband (live saying that!) and I from Cork to Kenmare. There was a bottle of prosecco (for the hubby) and sandwiches for us in the car for our journey and we stopped off in the park he recommended for photos which was a hidden gem! Stunning photos!! What can I say about Mossy, he is a true gentleman and made our day even more special! We arrived at the hotel and Tom greeted us on the red carpet with more bubbly and a welcoming smile! The energy that man has is amazing, from the moment we arrived until we left 2 days later he was a constant happy helpful presence! We met our guests at the drinks reception an there was a great buzz around the place everyone was having a great time which we were thrilled to see! Dinner bell rang and we were introduced by our best man as Mr & Mrs Lynch for the first time, what an entrance it was so much fun!! I had asked Sile to put name cards on the top table so people knew where to go and on my one she had written “Naomi” and inside it she wrote “& bump!” I just thought that was such a sweet and thoughtful personal touch! The meal was amazing and the service was truly on point! After the meal we had our speeches which were hilarious and then the band started! Sandwiches and finger food came out at 11 & we saved some of the sandwiches until 2.30 after the dj! Everyone had an amazing night! The residents bar stayed open until whenever we wanted! The next morning we had breakfast in our gorgeous bridal suite delivered by the smiley Tom himself! We had our second day in Kenmare town and had a blast! Checkout was bitter sweet as it was all coming to an end but Tom was there to wish us well on our new journey and Sile sent us a lovely message! I just honestly can’t recommend them enough, all of the personal touches and gestures really made our day/weekend amazing! 3 weeks later our guests are still contacting us telling us that it was the best wedding they had been to and they were so impressed with the venue! Thanks so so much again to Sile, Tom, Hanneke, Alan and all the staff at The Kenmare Bay Hotel for making our day so special! Xxx

Stayed here for 3 nights recently and enjoyed the overall experience-All the staff we met were very engaging and courteous -any question or matter needing attention was dealt with .The room was as we had requested with a walk in shower and lots of room on the ground floor. We dined in the restaurant each evening and the meals were very good. The menu could do with a variation over the few days but the service and setting were excellent. The bar was good but access was up steps and not well signposted. There was music each night. The town of Kenmare was very near and there was a great buzz about the place. We enjoyed our stay and would look forward to returning. We would have liked to have a place to sit outside in the sunshine and a pity there was not any.

Just back from a trip with my partner and baby to this hotel. The room was ideal, bed comfy and a travel cot was provided. Breakfast was self service which was lovely and plentiful and dinner in the restaurant on one of the nights was very nice. The wifi wasn't the best but no harm there. The location was great only a few mins to the town centre and drive to all the lovely scenic areas of Kenmare. Only negative experience was the evening we arrived I went to the bar to see if we could get a snack to our room to which the unhelpful slightly rude young dark haired girl grunted no, the kitchen was closed at 7 pm. My partner had to walk to local centra for a sandwich. Pity about lack of room service. Staff in breakfast place and on reception were pleasant.
