Lovely place to visit the only thing I would say is that the tour of the house although informative there was a lot of standing around I feel being allowed to walk round at your own pace with information sheets would be better.

My husband and I were blown away with the beautiful gardens. We had not read in advance about the dolls house area nor teddy bear area so were very pleasantly surprised.

On a beautiful sunny day (24 June) it was a fantastic day to spend exploring and walking round the lovely grounds.

We especially enjoyed the rock garden area and the home made scones and home grown apple juice.

We will definitely return.

One of our regulars. Went to view the gardens. Superb as usual. Fantastic herbaceous borders. Cornus trees in their June finery with white and pink bracts. One with mock orange growing underneath both providing a continuum of white blossom with superb scent. Had a very good sandwich in the cafe. Not the cheapest but worth the price.

Were exhibiting engines (not tractors!) at the Tractor Fest last weekend and went to explore the gardens Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The gardens went on for acres and every corner turned was a delight. Took a boat ride on the river Ure, well worth it and guide was very informative and even saw a couple of kingfishers. Plenty of playareas for children and hand-paddle boats on a large lake. We had an 11 year old in our little group and there were plenty of 'hidden' places and lots for him to explore. Also, a little train railway which was very poplular with visitors. We didn't get around to seeing all the garden and grounds, nor the Hall, but will return next year to finish them. Intriguing Dolls' House exhibition and Teddy Bear exhibitions and a hands-on sculpture area, with finished professional items for sale. Overall well worth a visit, but spend a couple of full days there to see everything.

We first visited Newby Hall and Gardens 2 years ago and finally made it back this weekend.

Visiting the Tractor Fest show but with that you get access to the gardens etc.

We had such a lovely day, the gardens are immaculate, the little train a cheap and fun ride and also went on the river cruise, also inexpensive. All staff we encountered were helpful, polite and professional. They gave the impression that they really did want to be at work and doing what they were doing.

Our boys had great fun in the splash zone and exploring the gardens, so much so that they didn't manage to play on the park as we sadly ran out of time.

Great selection of reasonably priced plants and gifts available too.

Just overall a lovely place for a family day out.
