Enjoyed my stay here. Went to see coughton court for an early morning walk, just across the road. Super! Nice hotel, rooms are good and clean. Service is ok as well. The heating was on which i do not understand during this summer.

Stayed here for one night while visiting the area. Booked a small double at first but found out a small double was not for us, so we asked for a bigger room. The bigger room was brilliant. Good sized bed, good wifi. Bathroom was ok but the shower was a bit small. Only showers at this hotel. Staff were great. Lots of parking at this hotel. Situated on a busy road. Breakfast was nice with lots of choice. The cooked breakfast was cooked fresh. Only issue was the check out time, 10.30am. Maybe 11.00am would be better. Good value for money though and would stay here again.

Room tip: Go for a big room

We come to this area as a short break to play golf on the courses around.
The hotel staff welcomed us and we found our clean and tidy room.
We had booked for dinner and enjoyed the meal, both range and quality.
We had room 6, on one of the hottest nights of the year. There was noise from the kitchen extractor fans but we were so tired after the golf it did not hamper sleep, but could do for others.
Breakfast was tasty and well presented.
Enjoyed the stay.

Our room was supposed to be a king superior but that was misleading. There were 2 single beds and mattresses pushed together. the room was 29 deg and although there was a fan it didn't bring the temperature down. The room size was misleading also as part of it was a corridor from the door and past the bathroom. There was the beds and a bedside tables along the wall and that was all the room across. However, there was a deep radiator along side the bed so it was a sideways shuffle to get into bed. There wasn't a chair in the bedroom at all - the hairdryer lead didn't reach the mirror. In the bathroom there was a corner shower which only had a narrow sliding door. When I tried to close the door it came off the runner and it wouldn't move. I could go on for ever. The first night we arrived we ate in the restaurant and I ordered fish and chips the fish was haddock and it said it was fresh from the coast. I asked the waitress which coast was it from as the county is land locked and she said Birmingham! It didn't inspire confidence.

Room tip: As we were told all the rooms are the same probably not one.

Large party of 11 and it got off to a poor start just getting our first drinks which was painfully slow. Then after ringing to check if we needed to reserve particular items on the menu and being told we didn't 4 people asked for the Sea Bass only to be told they only had 3 and what skinny little left over remnants they were! But the prize for the very worst dish went to the Roast Shoulder of Lamb, simply awful. Imagine Pulled Pork, well this was Pulled Lamb, lots of tiny little flakes which they then squashed into a mold to give it shape, overcooked and dry with a slight burnt back taste, clearly a burnt bit had got into the 'mix'. My alternative scenario is that it was not roast but grilled or barbecued before being shredded. Steamed Mixed Vegetables are a great idea but only if you watch the time they are steamed for, I was the only one that liked Broccoli so overcooked it falls apart as you try to serve it, needed a spoon to serve it or it just fell apart.
Portions were small but they serve meals with an enormous Yorkshire Pudding to give some visual size to the dish, I like Yorkshire Pudding but these were very dry. Asked for extra gravy to wet the Lamb and Yorkshire which would have been ok if not for that burnt back taste also in the gravy.
I've previously had a few good meals here so was really disappointed with the food.
Ordering a second round of drinks also proved an ordeal, the waitress simply forgot, some just went to the bar and 'self served' they got so fed-up of waiting. When we asked the waitress what had happened it still took a while.
We had also asked for water and just before we left 3 bottles finally arrived.
I did not see Dave or Sally, so not sure if everything has gone downhill all the time or just when they are out. Some of our party are really uncomfortable complaining, they just suck it up and pay however disappointed they are, but I don't think anyone will be going back.

This seems to be set up as a 'Hotel' review, should be able to review it as just a Pub / Restaurant.
