We've been meaning to walk up and around Sharpenhoe Clappers for as long as I can remember and we finally took the plunge.
We made a bit of a mistake by not parking on the main road but turning left (from Barton) and parking in the car park there because it actually makes the walk up a little too easy.
It didn't take long to reach the memorial and the wonderful views of Beds and Herts below, we were lucky that the sun came out as we were ascending. Once at the top there's a few different options to come back down but a word of warning to those with small children, keep a careful watch as there are places where they could easily fall down the side.
I should imagine it's pretty busy in summer, we decided we'd like to return when there's snow in the ground, the views really would be spectacular then.
By the way, I used an app to check how far above sea level we were at the top and it said just under 2,500 feet.!
