“Lovely spot”
Reviewed 7 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Great spot and very nice helpful hosts. Very good value at £65 per night. Lots of board games and books for adults and kids. Could do with a DVD player and a shower. In cold weather heating is just OK in the morning but it is not warm enough, especially in the main room, in the late afternoon-evening.

“Remote and beautiful!”
Reviewed 24 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

My husband, sister and I were in Limestone Brae for a holiday. We didn't realise that it was a decent drive from Hexham through some rather windy roads but it was totally worth it. The beautiful, serene surroundings and very well equipped house more than made up for it.

We saw wild deer, loads of sheep, little chooks and spectacular sunsets and night skies. Elizabeth and Richard were very accommodating of our grocery requests (nearest town was still far away). The lack of internet/phone reception meant us city-dwellers taught ourselves to light a fire and play board games around it. We got fresh chicken eggs from the owners who lived next door and my sister, who usually hates the smell of eggs, wolfed them down.

It was a new experience for us as we are usually attached to our phones and always connected online. Instead we took lots of photos of the wonderful landscape and went for walks on the property and sipped lazy cups of tea. The house which said 1-bed was actually 2-bedroom and very spacious. It even has a baby cot and lots of toys to play with if you took a toddler with you

The heating and hot water are on a timed boiler but once you work it out, you can have hot baths and stay warm. It might be a tad too cold in winter though - at least for me.

“Fabulous Location”
Reviewed 25 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

If you want to get away from it all this is the perfect place. It is quite literally in the middle of nowhere! Forget mobile phones, Wi-Fi (They can only get TV via satellite) total piece and quiet. Wonderful! We walked in stunning countryside and had coffee in some lovely places.
A car is absolutely essential, make sure you have plenty of fuel ( and supplies) because the nearest petrol station is almost a 30 minute drive!
The décor is a little tired looking but it is clean and very homely. There are numerous books, games and children's toys. The only things we missed was a teapot and a shower. There is plenty of hot water though for the bath but we would have preferred showers. (A personal thing).
If you really want a break from it all give Low Limestone Brae a try

“Very remote, beautiful views, cosy fire”
Reviewed 16 November 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We had a little trouble finding the cottage in the dark, please don't trust to satnav to get you there, use the directions from the owner!! We got lost and ended up being directedby monks from the nearby Buddist monastery (I kid you not!!). Very very remote so perfect for getting away from everything and communing with nature, including the hens from whom you could purchase free range eggs. And as the hens and their baby chicks wandered all around the farm we definitely saw proof of how free range their lives were! Our 8 year old was enthralled.

Would have liked slightly more in the way of kitchenware etc, there was no oven glove which meant we had to use a tea towel to get food out of the oven.

But we had great fun laying and lighting the fire which was ideal to relax in front of after a day out in the cold.
