If your coming from Hyderabad to Srisailam then the dam is enroute. You will get a chance to view the dam several times enroute. Another option is to go to patal ganga and take boat ride to dam

I never saw a dam before in my life, and viewing it was just an awesome experience for me. Love the beauty and massiveness of the project.

One of the 52 Shakti Peeths and jyotirlings Mallikarjun Temple is a devastanam in Srisailam Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.Very neat and clean well maintained small town is situated on the banks or Krishna river and Srisailam dam.Our journey from mumbai was with an adventurous drive passing by through Maharashtra newly formed Telangana and all the way through the famous Nagarjuna tiger reserve. This 76 km forest range was an adventure by itself. We reached at 4.30 am and found the gates of the forest closed and many cars and buses waiting at the entry gate this forest. We planned our journey as such keeping in mind to reach by 6 am when the gates to pass the forest reserve are open. Thanks to our focused driving w reached well before the time. It was good to have 1 and half hours in our hand to get freshen up and have an awesome morning fresh steam Idlis and Sambar in the shops around.
Once the ropes were released at the gates of dawn to pass by the forest range had its own beauty to watch.the 76 km drive on the smooth jungle road was something to remember. In the excitement we missed out to buy the entry tickets or the toll tickets which is to be given at the time of exit. If you don’t have the tickets be ready for the penalty or Rs 500/-
After reaching the devastanam town, trust lodges with AC and non AC accommodation is available at Rs 700/- and 300/- including awesome traditional Andhra breakfast lunch and dinner. The rooms were very clean and was worth staying for 24 hours.
The darshan was In a very systemic way with entry coupons to be taken free of cost including free lunch coupon if required. Once the tickets were taking you are made to wait in a waiting room in a set or 70-80 people. These rooms are cosy in comparison to the heat of 12 noon. Our turn for the darshan came in bed 45 minutes and then was the divine darshanam. Do not forget to buy the laadoos as Prasadam for Rs 75 /- per 500 gms.You will find different counters to buy these laadoos according to their weights.
After having the rollicking simple food we decided to have a nap before setting our selves for the next destination on the way which was Tuljapur. We had to ensure that we cross the Tiger reserve gate by 8.30 and it shuts at 9 till 6 in the morning .
Will catch up soon with the next destination till then Har Har Mahadev...!!!
