It is difficult to know what to say having read all the reviews to date as there is nothing that I can say that has not already been said! This is just a wonderful place. We arrived late for lunch, but Jose still joined us for a bowl of soup to make us feel really welcome. He and his family were so kind and friendly, and together with all their staff it was smiles all the way.
The highlight had to be our visit to the end of term concert at the local school, and the memory of being mobbed by the kids afterwards, all wanting to take selfies of us with them.
We live in a big big world, and there is still so much to see, so my wife and I have a rule of not going back to places that we have already visited. But, Jose and Sinta, it is highly likely that you will see us again one day!

You are most welcome back. Thank you for your kind review. Each and every review is important to us that it gives us a reassurance. As we are not in hospitality business by profession and by choice, and we are not in any famous tourist destination we are in a perpetual struggle to learn and improve. We like to offer our guests a genuine real life experience. Sinta's school was delighted to have you as guests for the annual day celebration. Thank you for appreciating.

A classic Indian retreat, far from the bustle of urban life and set within an organically based farm. The family (Jose, Sinta and children) and all of the staff were so friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and very well appointed, the food was stunning and served on a communal basis with the family. Swimming in their private pool or the nearby river. Yoga classes and excursions to a (very large) local school, village and rubber plantation were included in our stay. Lovely family, lovely setting -- we could not praise our stay highly enough. We wish them every success.
PS. have a camera ready when you first arrive to capture the welcoming ceremony!

Room Tip: Ask for a conducted tour of the farmstead -- care with the goat!

We thank you, David, for the wonderful review. We are happy to see that there are people who can enjoy our simple way of life and appreciate it. Dewalokam is for those like you, who is prepared to go to the off beat places, and enjoy the surprises of alternative tourism. Communal dining, swimming in the river, riding in the public transport buses, visit the school,...all are challenges to some people. Thank you.

We stayed for 2 nights and would have liked longer in this wonderful, relaxing farmstead retreat. Our hosts, Jose and Sinta, their children and all their staff were charming, helpful and made our stay so special. The food was excellent. We visited the kitchen for a cookery demonstration which was really interesting. We took part in the early morning yoga sessions which are provided free for guests. We swam in the pool and in the river. Sinta gave us a tour of the farm and showed us all the animals they keep and the produce that they grow. It was a fascinating insight into the way Dewalokam is almost self-sufficient. Fresh food, beautifully cooked. On our last morning a birthday surprise awaited me. I was greeted by the staff, each holding a rose in a maid of honour. The back board in the dining area had birthday wishes and balloons. I was presented with a garland of flowers and then each member of staff placed a rose on top. After the traditional Happy Birthday song was sung, a chocolate birthday cake was presented. I think they knew it was my birthday from my passport as neither myself or my wife had mentioned it. Jose and Sinta's attention to detail and the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms was first class. All our accommodation in our 3 week tour of North and South India was very good, but, for me and my wife, Dewalokam shone above the other places that we stayed at. I wish we had more time to indulge ourselves in this tranquil haven. I would highly recommend Dewalokam to anyone planning to visit Kerala.

I cannot rate this beautiful place highly enough. From the moment we arrived to be greeted with Jasmine garlands, wafted with scented smoke and handed a refreshing drink to the moment we left with tears in our eyes we were made to feel like treasured friends. Nothing was too much trouble. Our names were remembered, activities were available - it was complete bliss and everything, everywhere was absolutely spotless. The food was delicious and the hospitality from the whole family and every one of their staff was first class. 5 Star all the way.

Thank you very much for the unique review. Dear Jan, your review is a landmark for us. Yours is the 500th review that marks Dewaloakm as excellent. It is very pleasing to us, though even we feel that it is bit too sweet. A positive review gives us added strength and convinces us that we are doing the right thing. It makes us happy, and reminds us of our responsibility to our guests, who come with a lot of expectations. We will try to fulfill them as best as we can. Thank you.

One year on and everything about Dewalokam is just as we remembered - wonderful!
Jose and Sinta were so welcoming, and their family charming. The staff are friendly, the food tasty, fresh and plenty of it. I watched the chef prepare our food one evening and we visited the local school too, but mostly we just relaxed and swam. Just what we needed before flying back to UK.
Thank you to Jose and Sinta and everyone at Dewalokam
