“Absolute paradise”
Reviewed 29 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

We stayed here over Christmas of 2015. To say it was perfect is a huge understatement! The property is a self-catering, one bedroom house which is located on the top of a hill which overlooks the sea to neighbouring islands. It is an upmarket Fijian wooden house with all amenities required for a luxurious stay. It also has an infinity pool surrounded by decking where we relaxed with a 'Fiji Gold' beer whilst watching the sun set most nights.

It is perfectly located for a quiet, relaxing and isolated stay but near enough to shops if needed. The caretaker for the property; Knox, was more than helpful and went above and beyond his duty to ensure he made our stay as perfect as it could be, he treated us like long-lost family members. We got engaged on an idyllic beach just a ten minute drive from the property where Knox had helped me set up a picnic and a local villager to play a guitar; it was magical and not possible without Knox; luckily, my now fiancée said yes!!

We also went diving on Chritmas Eve on the magical 'Rainbow Reef' which was fantastic. The diving school is located just at the bottom of the drive from the property which was excellent.

Taveuni is an unspoilt Fijian island and it is like stepping back in time, in comparison with its bigger islands. All islanders were friendly and Knox invited us to his village for a wedding on Christmas Day which we thoroughly enjoyed and made it a Chrsitmas we will never forget.

We would highly recommend staying here to experience luxury in a traditional Fijian culture!! 5 stars ++ We cannot wait to return!!!

Management Response

Dear Sam and Rosie,
Thank you so much for taking the time to review Loman. We know you are on your much awaited trip around the world before settling back into life as hard working paramedics back home. You both were wonderful guests, as you can tell, our caretaker Knox, fell in love with you both. We were so touched you chose Christmas Eve to propose to Rosie....of course she was going to say yes! Thank you for looking after our home like it was your own. We look forward to following your journey into married life. You are welcome back anytime with open arms!!! One of the great things about you both is you did something different every day and opened up your hearts to the village and Knox's family and in return they gave you their hearts and time, so thank you. All the best for the years ahead. We look forward to you visiting again soon, perhaps soon with one little extra one :-)) Saskia x

“A slice of paradise!”

We had an amazing time at Lomani! The pictures do not do it justice - it truly is a slice of paradise! It's a great location - only 10 min drive to the airport and a 3 min walk to the beach and local dive shop! Also - Nox our caretaker really made our time in Fiji so special - from a traditional lovo feast to arranging massages on the deck at sunset to helping us get around to the local market (he even lent us his personal cell while we we there!) - we wanted for nothing! We cannot recommend this place enough :) we hope to come back in the future

“A wonderful place to stay while enjoying Taveuni”

What a great experience. Staying at Lomani was wonderful. The place is exactly as shown on the website. Nox, one of the caretakers, was attentive and always available when we needed information or transportation. This cottage is just a 5 minute walk to Taveuni Ocean Sports who we did our diving with.
We made use of the ocean kayaks and the bicycles.
The satellite for the TV was not available but there are plenty of DVD's to choose from. Having a washing machine was convenient.

“Paradise”

We had the good fortune of spending 28 nights at Lomani. We were scheduled to stay three more weeks, but a family emergency made it necessary to leave after one month. Lomani is exactly as pictured on the website. It is rustic, but that is what makes it so charming, If you are looking for a peaceful, private place to stay, Lomani is the perfect choice. Nox and Tukana (caretakers) will take excellent care of you. They were always available whenever we needed them. They were especially helpful when we needed to leave due to my father's medical emergency. They provided transportation to and from the airport. They also arranged for housekeeping services once a week for a nominal charge.

A phone for local calls was provided. This made it really easy to arrange for diving and to contact Nox or Tukana. If you purchase minutes, you can use the phone to call the US at a very reasonable rate.

There is a video on YouTube which accurately represents Lomani. Some of the conveniences we enjoyed included the infinity pool, washer, gas grill, two hammock type swings, TV, and a great supply of new movies on DVD. The outdoor shower was especially nice. At night the stars are so bright they look like Christmas lights in the sky. There is a large floor fan which keeps the bure comfortable during the day and for sleeping. There is mosquito netting for the king size bed, but we were never bothered by any bugs during our stay.

Saskia (owner) was incredible to work with when booking Lomani. She supplied the excellent selection of DVD movies for us. We had at least one new movie to watch each night. We even found popcorn at the market in the village.

During our stay the Prime Minister of Fiji was at the village to dedicate a new school. Nox made arrangements for us to attend. It was a highlight of our trip. We did our diving with Taveuni Ocean Sports which was a short five minute walk from Lomani. The diving was phenomenal to say the least. We were fortunate to dive every other day. We highly recommend them if you dive and plan to stay at Lomani. It is so convenient. Plus Taveuni Ocean Sports is simply the best dive operator we have ever encountered in our 20 years of diving.

If you want the opportunity to live a Fijian lifestyle with a million dollar view from your bure, Lomani is the place for you. You will never find nicer people than the Fijians on Taveuni. It was a trip of a lifetime for us, and Lomani was the perfect accommodation.

“Beautiful Rental Tucked Away on Private Property”

My Wife and I decided to travel to Fiji for our honeymoon, primarily for the diving on the Rainbow Reef. After several internet searches we decided on Lomani, primarily based on the reviews that the owner, Saskia, was very easy to book with and the breadth of information that was provided about the rental on Lomani's website. All the booking went very smooth and Saskia was very helpful in providing information and answering any questions that we had. Upon arrival to Taveuni, we were greeted by Nox (the caretaker's brother) and taken to Lomani. Our first impression was fantastic! The grounds were very lush with flowers, green grass, coconut palm trees, and other assorted fruit trees. The cottage and kitchen were very clean and ready for our use. The view from Lomani on the bluff overlooking the Somosomo Strait is gorgeous every evening. The water in the Somosomo Strait is also gorgeous and you can see parts of a small reef from Lomani looking down to the ocean. From an aesthetics view, you will not be disappointed with Lomani. If you do decide to stay at Lomani, be prepared to cook all meals for yourself, with the exception of some frendly offers by Jon Brown (Garden Caretaker), who will graciously offer to cook some Fijian meals for you to taste. Jon also provided a private Kava ceremony for just my wife and I on the deck one evening. Preparing all your meals is not difficult, you just have to plan for it. A large grocery store is a 3-4 minute drive to the south or a 10-15 minute bike ride with the mountain bikes provided at Lomani. The greatest contribution to our lovely experience at Lomani was the staff. They are all so kind and willing to show you how they live their life on Taveuni. They are always willing to help with rides into town or to Matei. Jon Brown even spent an entire afternoon with us showing us his farm and the local village. When trying to think of a reason why I would not recommend Lomani, I can't find one. To summarize, if you are looking for a very private, secluded place with amazing views Lomani is the place for you. Did I mentioned you get your own private pool? We spent several sunny afternoons after diving just relaxing in the pool. If you plan to dive, Taveuni Ocean Sports (highly recommended for their service) is a 5-minute walk down the road. We were very pleased with our stay at Lomani and would definitely recommend it for future travelers.
