Brilliant Roast, great customer service! Would highly recommend to any Dorset visitors. Great value for money and would be even better to go to in the summer with a lovely outside area.

Thank Sam W

The young chap had no idea what was on the menu when asked questions about it, took our order then laid up standard cutlery, hubby had to ask for a steak knife, leans across you at the table doesn’t approach from the side, didn’t know what lager was served nor what Pinot & Soda was, tried to take hubbys starter away without asking ‘have you finished’ whilst he was still eating it. No condiments on the table. Presented the bill and hovered with the card machine whilst we read through it.... nice looking pub but won’t be back.

Thank you for your review, and we are very disappointed that you had such service during your meal. I can assure you we always aim to give a very high standard of service to all our customers at all times. We have a new member of the team who hasn't worked in this environment before and therefore is having a lot to learn during his shifts, and I can only apologise that his lack of knowledge in his first few shifts did affect the enjoyment of your meal. I can assure you that his training is on-going, and I hope that you will come back again and will see that this wasn't a usual standard of service given by us.

Two or three undemanding, circular walks are to be found in the proximity of this pleasant pub and its car-park.
Orders for lunch seem to be accepted till 3pm, so we did not feel we had to rush around our circuit. Good country food, such as pheasant and partridge.

We dropped in to break a journey home on a wild night; it proved a good call. The pub was warm and friendly and surprisingly quiet. A welcome break for what proved a tasty meal from an inviting menu.
One of us had Thai green curry, with prawns and the other, chilli con carne. They were both very enjoyable. The Turkish Delight flavoured ice cream looked an improbable idea on the 'Specials' menu, so we tried and thoroughly enjoyed it. The coffee was good too.
But the step unexpected shallow step on the way to the gents seems a trip for the unwary. At least, it was for me. But that didn't detract from a pleasant evening. We're pleased to have found another good pub for a good meal and we'll stop there again if we pass that way.

We called in for a light lunch. Nice menu choice, especially the specials board. We had the chicken tikka ciabatta and the mushrooms and stilton on toast. Both were good though the stilton dish was quite small for just under £7. The service was okay and the general decor/ambience ok too. So in the round a nice visit but not an outstanding one.
