“Heaven in a little village in France”
Reviewed 20 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

From contacting Jane and arranging the rental to getting there she could not have been more helpful. We were greated by Jane and Steve who gave us a tour and explained the main house and barn along with giving information about shops etc in area, they also ensured we had information about places to visit and made recommendations to us.
The quality of everything was top notch crisp linens and white fluffy towels to good sized beach towels for the pool.
The wood burning stoves and the outside eating we were in heaven. The pool is salt water and was fantastic temperature around 21-27 degrees.
I cannot recommend this highly enough and I never go back but this is somewhere I may make an exception for, it was perfect for all from 5 months to 76 years and the toy poodles who loved the very large secure garden.
Thank you Jane and Steve

“Beautiful Stay”
Reviewed 4 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Cannot praise this beautiful Mairie highly enough. Jane and Steve are gracious hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them.

The Mairie itself is equipped to the highest standard, and was perfect for us as two family's and there was plenty of room for the children to run around in the house and beautiful gardens!

We really could not find a single fault with this stunning property and cannot wait for a return visit to the stunning Limousin area.

We had a wonderful stay at the Old Mairie. We were 2 families (4 adults, 6 kids & teens) and spent a week there. Jane & Steve have been so helpful in assisting us in finding the right places to visit, get goat cheese at the farm, do horseback riding, etc. They really made a difference during these holidays. The Old Mairie is a 5 star vacation home: from bed clothes to the wonderful kitchen plus the relaxing garden with the swimming pool, the offering is definitely of high quality. We highly recommend if you are looking for a relaxing place with various activities to please the entire family.

“A glorious house in delightful surrounds...”

We stayed at Jane and Steve's place in August this year, hiring both the converted barn and the Ancienne Marie proper and we're so glad we made it our home for the week. We were 9.5 adults and 3.5 kids so quite a large group and we were super comfortable... the house itself is beautifully and tastefully renovated but has held onto it's charm by retaining some key features.. my favourite being the centuries old staircase. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable, we slept like babies (as did the babies). The outside area is peaceful and secluded and the pool is an absolute joy... particularly as it's not chlorinated (or maybe only partially chlorinated?) - but anyway Steve uses salt which is so much nicer than chemicals. Steve popped over early in the morning to clean it while we were still clearing the previous nights g&t's and red wine from our hazy heads... plus he's installed a pool alarm which was a huge weights off for the mums and dads in our group. There's a huge grassy area at the back of the gardens which we used to play French Cricket and KanJam (look it up)... it's so nice to have that space to wander into and for the kids to go exploring. We had BBQ's, went on night walks in the nearby forest, sat out and watched the stars (and meteor shower), went to night markets and ate frites and drank (more) red wine. It's also worth mentioning that Jane made it so easy to organise everything and everyone, as soon as the enquiry was made we moved to email and then to phone... particularly useful if you're a large party I guess but it took all the pain out of the process. It's just the perfect peaceful getaway whether you're a 2 or a 10 (+) person party. Thanks Jane and Steve... great hosts, great house, great location. One of the few occasions were the reality was better than what was advertised. Photos just don't do it justice. See you next year! :o)

“SImply Awsome!”
Reviewed 7 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

A fabulous house run by lovely, dedicated, friendly people in an excellent location. Peace and quiet in a newly refurbished house to on of the highest standards i've stayed in,(and I've done a lot of villa / cottage holidays). The photos are exactly what it is really like. The owners are on hand at any time and wiling to help out in any way they can. I can't rate this highly enough. we're planning our return visit already.
