There are three gites here, ranging from 1-3 bedrooms, tastefully furnished but keeping their character, each with its own lovely garden and patio. We stayed in the one-bedroom one, Le Logis. It was a beautiful experience to have breakfast in the garden, surrounded by the colourful flowers and the hum of bees. The owner was very welcoming and friendly with excellent English. The gite itself is very spacious and comfortable.
It is an ideal base for touring or for stopping off after arriving in Cherbourg. The little adjoining village has a bakery and small supermarket, but the next village of St. Brice, 5 minutes away, has a large supermarket.
The historical towns of Fougeres, Dol-de-Bretagne, Dinan, St. Malo are all nearby, whilst the coast at Dinard is also easily within reach and don't miss sampling the seafood at Cancale!
This place has everything and we can't wait to return.
When you need some tranquility and love to read in a beautiful garden: this is it!
A romantic cottage, beautiful surroundings, relatively close to St-Malô, Mont-St- Michel and Caen.
Cottage is situated on the grounds of the owner, but the lady of the house is very sweet and only visits when you need something.
We were very lucky to have "les chemins" all to ourselves without neighbours.
Lovely stay in this spacious, comfortable, well equipped and clean converted stone barn with its charming garden terrace and fashionably designed interior. Good shower, comfortable bed.
Lots of interesting towns and castles in Brittany within easy reach.
An easy drive from several ports, Manoir de Vaugarny is perfectly situated to explore Brittany and Normandy. The gites are situated on private land, from which you can see the owners’ manor house, but with their own private gardens, just outside of a small village. The gites are within walking distance of St Etienne en Cogles with its boulangerie, small shop and bar. Larger shops and restaurants can be found close by in St Brice en Cogles and in Fougeres.
The owners have taken great care to restore the houses to retain their character and they have all the amenities you would expect for a comfortable self-catering break. The gardens look out onto fields and we spent many hours watching the local wildlife. Hares, red squirrels, boar, deer, the cows and the owners’ crazy, but friendly, cat Lutin which would pop by each evening.
Brittany has much to offer, with the area local to the Manoir full of history and places to explore. You can visit beautiful Fougeres with its chateau Fort, as well as the owners’ very own chateau - La Rocher Portail - which is just outside St Brice en Cogles. Further a field, but within driving distance, is Mont St Michel, St Malo, Dinan, Rennes and many other popular destinations.
This was our second visit to the Manoir de Vaugarny and it did not disappoint, we shall be returning for more French experiences soon.
Exceptional Gites with all facilities in lovely part of France. Madly works very hard to make your visit a wonderful experience and if you visit will want to return. Most enjoyable and close to nature and the beautiful sights and scenery of Brittany. Simply wonderful.
