I stayed here with Road Scholar in March, 18. Although the rooms are not air conditioned, the room was cool. The room has a ceiling fan and a place to lock your valuables. Very comfortable bed, large room and bathroom. The rooms are connected by covered walkways from reception to rooms to the dining room. The very good meals are buffet style. It is set in a forest with beautiful flowers and greenery. The Sarapiqui
River is in walking distance. You awaken to nature sounds, howler monkeys and bird song. Recommend this place!

Stayed at the Selva Verde for the first two nights of our trip. After arriving late following Air Canada's failure to transit our luggage we were very pleased with the spacious room provided. The room was quite noisy being next to the main road but a pair of earplugs helped initially before the traffic died down. Breakfasts were very pleasant, and the staff all lovely. The 'manager' was great, very hospitable giving us a mini- wildlife tour, and very helpful. On our second night we ate at the Pizzeria and the food was delicious. My only minor negative would be that the shop doesn't sell cold drinks which would be handy as the bar doesn't open to midday. Overall though very enjoyable.

Accurate description on their website. Good balance between accommodations and adventure without too much 'roughing it' or too much "fluff". Visitors included, singles, couples and groups (nothing loud or out of control). Our rooms had AC, although some do not...it is a higher elevation-cooler temps. On site access to guides, activities and near by activities off site. Nice pool, food, all kinds of critters. Staff was wonderful pre-stay with many emailed questions before arrival, pleasant to deal with during our stay. Eager to please and share their knowledge of the area and its offerings. Rooms were basic, as expected but, clean. Facility was well tended to and offered a great look at mother nature's wonders of Costa Rica. Would visit again.

Room Tip: AC rooms better cause a wee bit close to the road noises....

Spent 2 nights at this lodge in a detached a/c chalet. Our lodge was located on the opposite side of a busy main road taking about 10 mins to walk uphill from the main reception/restaurants along a covered walkway to shelter from any rain. The staff were more than happy to collect us and return in a vehicle if required.
The room was a good size with a large very comfortable bed.
I arrived having injured myself and requested medical advice from the manager Marco and PR manager. They both drove me into the local town and waited so I could be seen by a doctor and interpret. Throughout our stay they were both accommodating, helpful and very friendly. The birdwatching guide provided was enthusiastic, very knowledgeable and helped us take photos using smart phones through his scope. The birdlife in this area is amazing. The restaurant has two areas offering Italian and local cuisine which were amazing likewise the breakfast was buffet style serving quality and quantity.
A perfect location, venue and staff. Wonderful stay.

Room Tip: We had a quiet a/c detached chalet on the opposite side of a main road to the main hotel which was slightly uphill.

Owned by Holbrook Travel, we stayed two nights on a Roads Scholar tour. If you want to get a taste of the middle altitude Costa Rican jungle, you could do no better. This compound is hacked out of the jungle. You will stay in outbuilding quadraiplexes. Elevated. Screened. Very comfortable. Tiled bathrooms. Covered & lit walkways to the main bldg & dining bldg. Small swimming pool. Recommended for birders. Saw many birds, howler monkeys, armadillo, and poisonous frogs on the compound grounds.
