We returned to this club med as we had a wonderful holiday here in 2017... and wanted to come back. We still had a wonderful holiday but we noted that cleaning was an issue. We had a jnr suite and our carpets & the white furniture was dirty, and not once wiped during our stay. In the dining room our salt / pepper cellars still had splashes of food on them 2x and I noted on various occasions when we were seated next to walls or the canvas dome that there was splashed food or drink that hadn’t been cleaned or wiped away.

Attention to detail managers !

Another superb Club Med... still run by the fantastic Olivier and his wonderful team. They all have so much energy and enthusiasm with permanent smiles on their faces! The food is 5 star, exceptional quality and variety and the hotel has very easy access to the slopes.
Thanks again

Club Med decided to cancel all the soft drinks (Coke/Diet Coke/Sprite/etc') at the restaurant. The reason they provided is that this is due to a new regulation relating to health and sugar. This was VERY disappointing besuse unlike any other restaurant in France or worldwide, where you can order and pay for any sift drink you like, at the club med you cannot order that. So, if on your vacation you don't want to avoid your favourite soft drink, Club Med are making thing complicated - you need to go through the Bar to get your soft drink and take with you to lunch or dinner. This is very annoying and a serious issue to consider if to go to an "all inclusive" vacation at Club Med where it is NOT all included.

On behalf of our whole Group (43 pax) I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to each and every employee of Club Med Sensations. We were practically treated like royalty. The accommodation and hotel facilities are very comfortable, ski hire and assistance very efficient. Food in both restaurants was excellent with good house wines served in bars/restaurants. Beverage service was ample and bar assistants were also very helpful. Special mentions go to Claire our GO who couldn’t do enough for us, Clayton who energized all guests in the resort with great hosting skills, Bertie at the bar. Although the hotel offers free ski lessons, I booked 2 private lessons with Venezia. This was a really good decision because I learnt to ski in no time and was able to conquer the green slopes and blue on the last day. It’s easy to throw the towel in as learning to ski isn’t easy. It’s worth persevering!! We stopped at the restaurants on the slopes for hot chocolate and meals, they all offer good quality menus and well worth admiring the scenery. Be sure not to miss the daily Apres Ski at the resort - the atmosphere is fun, fun, fun! We’re already planning next year’s trip.

We visited Club Med Val Tho during the third week of March.

Transfers and check-in
Airport transfers from Lyon airport were included in our package and were efficient and comfortable. On arrival, room was ready and restaurant was conveniently kept open later to allow us to eat a late lunch. Ski bags were efficiently handled by GMs and brought to our assigned locker in the ski room. So, check-in experience was excellent.

Accommodation
We had a superior room on the 7th floor, very quiet and comfortable, with a sun drenched balcony facing the ´plein sud’ chairlift - a great private après-ski spot. Room was very well appointed and clean. A bit on the small side but we were not fussed with this. Plenty of storage room for ski garb, etc. The resort itself is new with a trendy decor. The only thing missing is comfortable lounge chairs in common areas and bar. There is plenty of seating, but none of it is very comfy.

Restaurants/food service
We’ve been to several Club Med resorts in the Americas/Carribbean/France over several years and have generally found that the food - usually a differentiator for Club Med - had seriously deteriorated. Val Tho Sensations brought the glory back as far as we are concerned! The food was absolutely fantastic both in terms of variety and quality of preparation, from wild boar, lamb, foie gras poêlé, duck magret and seafood, good carbs to keep our energy level up, vegetarian dishes, a beautiful selection of cheese, to a broad array of desserts. And for folks that like to stick to burgers and fries, well that was available too. Frankly, the only unpleasant part was other GOs incessantly picking up food with their fingers rather than using utensils available in front of each serving plate - this is something the restaurant staff behind counters could do a better job of politely controlling.

Location/skiing
Club med in Val Tho is perfectly situated. Heading out to and coming back from the slopes was made super easy -truly ski-in, ski out - with a convenient entrance right at the same level as the ski locker room. Great attention to detail with cappuccino, expresso, hot chocolate machines in the ski locker (and several places in the resort), croissants, etc.
We did not ski with any of the preorganized groups, ESF monitors or guides. If you are a good skier, they will generally slow you down... a lot of wait time.

Club Med itself has no glory in this but, as far as ski terrain is concerned - this is 5 star. One week isn’t enough to ski every run you want. We had a fresh drop of snow prior to our arrival and clear sunny skies ( practically no bouts of flat light and definitely no white outs). Elevation guarantees the quality of snow. Long runs, steeps, powder, moguls, half pipes and jumps, ski cross runs, whatever you’re keen on. Of course, views are fantastic too. These resorts move a lot of skiers up, so there were no issues with interminable lift lines, pushy skiers stepping over everyone, or the sardine can phenomenon in aerial trams. We’ve skied in the Arlberg, Tyrol, Valais, Savoie, Vail, Whistler and the Canadian Rockies - and for us Les 3 Vallées is the ultimate skiers’ paradis! We will definitely return.
