“A great family holiday home”
Reviewed 4 September 2017 for a stay in August 2017

This was a wonderful place to stay, ideally suited for two families. Everything about the villa met and exceeded our expectations. The pool area was lovely, the outside sitting and fire pit area was great, really nice outside dining area, and terrific front gardens. Brian couldn't have been more welcoming. By the end of two weeks, we felt like we had settled in and didn't want to leave. Thoroughly recommended.

“A little tweak & it would be 5*”

Stayed with 3 generations of out family 70's 40's tweens & child.
Once we had settled in after 3 days ( see later comment) it was wonderful.
Most beds comfortable & the traditional decor &french shutters on windows were divine to wake up to.
Sun at the front garden most of the day & intermittently in the back around the pool as in went from East to West - leaving the table at the side of the house which seats 8ish lovely in the evening weather/heat dependent.
Once the front Electric & secure front gate is shut the place feels super secure & reduced noise from the busy road traffic during the day allowing kids to investigate to their hearts desire, at night the road is silent. Although be aware that European pools don't have to be surrounded by screens & so it is your responsibility to watch your own children.
The lounge was comfortable & able to accomodate the entire family if needed with 1 small TV but plenty of games (hopefully you won't need them as we did).
The cellar is a basic authentic dusty cellar but has a room with washer & dryer, ironing equipment & drying lines for clothes which suited our purposes perfectly.
The kitchen area was very family orientated with a table for at least 8 people & the kitchen itself was more than adequate. dishwasher included.
We arrived in the evening which was beautiful but the following 2 days were torrential rain which impacted our initial impression - felt a bit trapped especially as local grocery stores had short opening times (compared to Uk & Australia) - so a bit hit a miss.
Once we had got through those first couple of days things improved immensely as we could walk & explore our surroundings to seek amazing foods & wine which was actually only 200 meters down the road (to the left).
The down side was:-
Attic bedroom - uninhabitable for 2 tweens - dark & baron with the ants (described in the owners original post) - we didn't use the room.
Owners papers & personal effects in the bedroom on the ground floor covered in sheets in the corner. The bed was a futon & very uncomfortable.
Bathrooms x 2 - 1st a toilet in the main hall with a window opening to the pool. 2nd halfway up the stairs with a window opening onto the pool.
Closet of main bedroom filled with duvets etc for colder times.
Bookshelf had a hard copy Playboy book - easy for kids to get hold of.
Bedroom drawers had old sweet wrappers, hair bands & other left over stuff that previous renters left.
We also arrived late due to traffic from Paris & the number we were given for the caretaker wasn't answered ever which left us in a state of panic for a few hours. It appeared a few things were amiss in the maintenance of the place in-between guests.
As the first couple of days were drenched & we were house locked my impression was somewhat tainted & , but once we got over that & the sun shone this house became more and more beautiful.
BBQ was basic but perfect for our needs.
Pool not heated but big enough to play & have fun in most of the day.
Pool chairs old but seating plentiful enough to accomodate all.
Bedrooms used very comfortable & very lovely to wake up in.
Outside gardens plentiful & secluded. playing boules was a highlight.
One this that stood out was that previous tenants had left condiments, coffee, alcohol, fridge items for the next tenant which is such a lovely touch as it reduces cost & of course we did the same for the next people.
After the terrible weather & first impressions of the first couple of days -all 3 generations fell in love with this property and its foibles (i guess the expectation is a hotel not a home)- thats life - a year later we still talk about the great time we had & would love to go back again!!!

Hi James,
Many thanks forthe comprehensive report. I don't usually respond to feedback but felt that in this case it would be helpful.
Almost all of the issues mentioned have been addressed since you stayed last year. Indeed, I have spent over 30,000 Euros in improvements and maintenance over the past 12/18 months
Have a look at the photos on the website for guidance...
Specifically:
- The cellar has been tidied up and now has a wine cellar/bar where you can sit and imbibe while watching DVDs or listening to CDs. One cellar is given over to a full-size football table which will keep you entertained during we weather!
- I have installed a toilet and self-standing shower in the main bedroom en-suite (previously there was no toilet there - there are now 3 toilets in the house)
- The bedroom downstairs is now converted into a fully equipped office although there are 2 fold-up beds available in that room to accommodate larger groups of visitors
- The futon bed has been removed to the attic which has been cleaned up and all ants have been eliminated (well, almost). The attic also has a 55" TV and a sitting area as well as 2 single beds and an exercise bike...
- The small TV downstairs has been replaced with a 55" curved Samsung Smart TV. Two new satellite dishes has been installed providing a wide range of TV channels and access to Netflix
- A new range of poolside chairs has been provided as well as a new sun canopy and waterproof boxes to hold seat cushions
- There is a new front garden patio to enable you enjoy a coffee in the morning sun.
- I have changed the system for keys - these are now sent weeks in advance by post to ensure that guests have immediate access to the property upon arrival
- I am sorry that some previous guests had left items behind when they departed and it is unfortunate that the cleaner did not find them. Unfortunately the timing between lets is sometimes just a few hours and mistakes can happen
- Apologies for the Playboy book... not to my taste but it was a birthday present for a friend (I'll hide it next time!)
- The front door has been replaced and the back door re-fitted - improving security
- The wooden floors in the sitting room and dining room have been upgraded and varnished
- The walls around the pool have been painted in a honey/yellow hue replacing the more stark concrete look; and new shrubs have been planted around the pool area to enhance the experience there
- There are more bikes and golf clubs available too
- However, the food and wine is just the same: superb! .

As with all previous guests, you are entitled to a discount for a re-booking. I would love to welcome you back.

Meanwhile, thanks for the feedback.

Kind Regards,
Brian.

“Stylish and comfortable house with added features in a beautiful and interesting area.”
Reviewed 19 July 2016 for a stay in May 2016

I have enjoyed this property several times with a group of friends. It combines comfortable accommodation in a desirable region of France and a number of additional extras such as car, bikes, pool and 'state of the art' barbecue. I fail to see how it could disappoint.

“A wonderful experience”
Reviewed 12 July 2016 for a stay in May 2016

The whole group had a great time at this exceptional house. The outdoor area is perfect for not only the day time, but also for evening barbecues, and with plenty of room around the pool to sit and spend time with friends. All of your needs inside the house are catered for, and you are only a short walk away from the local town. Also nearby, are some wonderful local villages and countryside.

“Short break to celebrate a friends birthday”
Reviewed 27 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We had a wonderful stay in this lovely house. Great pool and garden with many places to sit and eat either in the sun or shade.
The house is equipped with everything you could possibly want or need, and perfectly located to either stroll into town or visit the beautiful surrounding countryside. There are many exceptional villages and natural wonders within an hours drive.
I have stayed here before and hope to stay many more times. I could not recommend it highly enough.... Wish I was back there right now !
