Launching from Montmin Talloires i reached La Cluzas and hiked to refuge de la Bombardellaz at 1.650 mtr height. Next day climed the route passage de la col de forclaz (seems every place has its forclaz)
Lots of wildlife to spot here !
Great route to hike and fly away with the paraglider

This was part of my tour of Lake Annecy and the French Alps by Shearings. The day out excursion was Lakes & Mountains which ended at this Col, prior to returning to La Clusaz. A lovely setting with nature all around and the joy of watching "the girls" come back down to be milked at the end of the day. The little chapel here is beautiful and sets off the place nicely. There are a couple of cafes and souvenir shops, as well as trout ponds. Ours was a quick visit but I am sure that hikers would love the place.

We spent 3hours exploring Col des Aravis the Church of Sainte Anne is marvelous and the dairy cows walking across the road to be milked was quite novel. Watching the sunset on Mont Blanc as it changed color to a shade of pink was majestic. Experience of a lifetime.

A great Col, not the highest of Cols, but the views on both sides and from the top are great.

Shops n cafes at the top - walks from the top.

Watch out for the Gorges de L'Arly down to Ugine {on the the Annecy / Albertivlle road}. Closed in summer 2011 and closed again in summer 2015 .

Looks like it will be closed for a few months more ?

It was a Sunday through, saw other cyclist going through, so we did. Must have been closed for ages - no traffic - great - lots of un-cleared rock falls.

Then, towards the bottom of the gorges, a long section of road had been washed away by floods - Lots of earth moving / road building machinery - but nobody was working on a Sunday !

Great environment, at the time we were there it was a bit chilly. Just take a sweater and jacket. Nice environment to go walking/hiking. There are some restaurants at the place where you can park your car. And from there you can walk uphill to some other restaurants or farms.
