Description: Au Cote d'Argent restaurant right on the water at Calais faces the seawall with fascinating views of the watery parade of sea ferries churning in and out. The dining room puts you in the mood for excellent seafood, with varnished wood-panelled walls, marine blue carpeting and upholstery, nautical detailing and huge plate glass windows for viewing the waves. Chef Bertrand Lefebvre trained with some of Frances greatest chefs Paul Bocuse among them before opening his own restaurant here. The cuisine is simple, elegant in a selection of menus that include dishes like chicken livers sauted with mushrooms in sherry, fillet of red mullet with rice and shellfish with saffron or half lobster without shell but with coral sauce. The service is warm, the cooking refined and sophisticated, the wines are French and the experience a delight.

We returned to the Restaurant for Lunch last Tuesday and Thursday and again thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, the views and great food and service. It's always a pleasure stopping off here for a meal of fresh fish dishes.

We were on a day trip to France from the UK which included a lunch and friends had suggested here

On arrival you are greeted with a photo of the team with Pres Macron and wife, so expectations are increased

The food was fantastic and the chef comes to the table to talk to you, sea food is the speciality but there is plenty for all tastes with steaks etc.

It met expectations at a reasonable price eur 40 per person

The view of the sea at the moment is slightly inhibited as there are works being done but suspect that will be completed in the next month or so.

Only 15 mins from the channel tunnel brilliant we will go again

Great location on the beach. You can watch the Ferry boats from the window. park right outside the door. This fish restaurant is a regular destination for us for lunch on our trips over here. All the shell fish is so fresh it never disappoints. nice touches of a nibble mise en bouche before the meal and nice truffle chocolates with the coffee. At the end well stuffed.

We often go to France to stay overnight in any of a number of hotels, and then also enjoy a meal at a restaurant before joining the Eurotunnel traffic. We had not been to this restaurant before (I'm not sure how long it has been open) but will definitely go again!

The seafront car park was in a terrible state, all being torn up and re-done, but don't know why! This was a typical, wintry and blowy day and felt sorry for the men working on tearing up the tarmac, but we were given a very warm and friendly welcome and found a table very speedily.

The seafood starter was beautiful, just enough and perfectly cooked. Following that one of us had fish, and the other three chose steak. The fish was smoked haddock, and was pronounced "wonderful", the steaks all cooked exactly to our individual requests, and all brought to the table at the same time. Nothing was too much trouble, and we were able to relax and really enjoy the meal.

The chef came out afterwards to check that we were all happy with our food, and of course we were! No doubt at all that we will return to this lovely eaterie in the future!

A stop in Calais, so we had to have our dinner at the Cote d' Argent!

Everything is so perfect! The food is delicious as always and it's a pleasure to have a small chat with the chef.

Thanks to the team.
