“Wonderful Dordogne Vacation Spot”
Reviewed 11 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

This house was everything we'd hoped for - excellent location just off city center, clean and well-equipped. We met the landlord at the start and end of our week. She was most gracious and informative.

We enjoyed walking around Sarlat, but it was also a great location for visiting places as far afield as Carcassonne, Oradour-sur-Glane and Bergerac.

Next time we visit southwest France, we'll stay there again. I would strongly recommend it to anyone.

“Perfect location and wonderful owner”
Reviewed 22 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We adored this lovely home. The location is perfect, two minutes from the main pedestrian area and good restaurants. We were traveling with friends and they had the 1st floor bedroom while we had the top floor. Each has it's own bathroom, large bed and ample space for suitcases and spreading out. There is an nice kitchen and small living room on the entry level. The kitchen is complete with dish washer and washing machine. All linens are provided. The wifi is excellent and there's a nice TV / DVD setup.
The weather was unseasonably hot the week we were there. We were glad there were fans in each of the bedrooms.
The owner is delightful. Nicky came by on Saturday morning and was a fountain of information about the town, the local culture, things to see, places to eat. The instruction book she provides about the home also contains restaurant reviews that are so well written I'm convinced Nicky writes novels on the side.
Parking is convenient to the house, just up the hill, but unloading and loading suitcases is a bit more of a challenge. Rue de la Charité is a medieval alley, not a street. We just pulled over to the curve, set our flashers, and unloaded. It's a 30 foot walk to the front door.
The 10th century winding staircase to the bedrooms is charming but not suitcase friendly. Count on 400 calories of effort for each suitcase, which needs to be carried in an upright position.
We would consider staying no where else in Sarlat were we to return.

“Great location”

First, the location is great. Whether you stay in town or want to travel a wee bit afar, it is easy to do so most days. But watch the market days, especially Saturday. Parking is off street but readily available.
The townhouse itself is fine. It is not really in any way luxurious. The bed is a bit stiff but fine. The pillows could be upgraded and the bed linens were adequate. But the home was very clean and for the most part the basic cookery etc. is provided. Internet access is very good with solid decent speed which is a plus when travelling. The bedrooms are located up some pretty narrow steep steps and might be a bit of a concern, certainly for anyone disabled or perhaps elderly. Space is generally ample and the washing machine too is a plus. It was easy to work with the owner and owner’s agent. If you want clean, comfortable surroundings then this town and home make a great place to stay in the Sarlat area. Ohh...and anymore than 4 would be too tight here. Still, you won’t be bored.

Liked best: The cool house on a hot day - seeing blue sky and bright sun but reading in comfort
Liked least: A very small point: a few more cooking implements (we like cooking rather than going out)

“Great Property, Great Value, Helpful owner, and a Wonderful Stay”

This is a gem and a rare find in a land that everything is overpriced and over-rated. I and my husband rented this house for 4 or 5 nights (I can't remember) and it was absolutely a delightful stay. The owner is Nicki, Terri Brown is an agent who process the booking, deposit transactions and pre-arrival communications. Frankly, she wasn't that helpful and her directions to the place was useless. Nicki was totally different, she was eager to help and very helpful. She met us at the property and showed us around, gave us information about the surroundings, where to go and where to eat etc. She was just a breathe of fresh air after dealing with Terri. The house was very spacious and well equipped. It was meticulously clean and well appointed. It's centrally located and yet very quiet. It's easy to get to and parking was only a block away. It's also very easy to get in and out of town where the house is located. Also, the area is very safe.
Tips on driving to the house - google it and print out enlarge maps from the edge of town to the house. Print several of them and large enough so you can actually see the little side streets and allys. Also, view it live on google, so you can get familiar with the look of the surroundings and know exactly what you are looking for......landmarks etc. The reason you want to get prepared is French drivers are very impatient, people are not going to be happy if you slow down and look for the house. Everything over there is very compact and all the side streets look alike, you can miss it in just split second. On top of that, not all streets have street signs. There are street parking by the house, but be sure to pay for it.
Once you get there, you will totally enjoy the town, the valley, and this house.

Management Response
20 Dec 2012
Thank you very much for your review. However we were slightly disappointed to hear that you felt our Agent was less than helpful despite the fact she responded promptly and with full information to each one of your 20+ emails for your five night booking. The average amount of correspondence is 4 emails so I feel confident that you received the best possible level of customer service in a professional and polite manner.

We find our directions which are sent out are clear and easy to follow and we have not heard of other guests having difficulties.

We are pleased however to learn that you enjoyed your stay in the property and enjoyed the beautiful town of Sarlat and we appreciate you taking the time to write a review.
