We gather it is especially busy during the peak season. Along with that goes the additional activities that some people require - especially if there are children in the group. But as a couple, by coming in Oct we found it delightful and we had all we needed. The weather was great, restaurants were available, markets functioned and car parking was easy. All in all it was delightful and relaxing to be here in the shoulder period.
The Town House has all that is needed. Bedrooms, lounge, bathroom, kitchen etc very fine and of a high standard. Wifi was excellent so we could stay connected. We could cook meals or go out and you really don't need to walk far to find somewhere to eat. There are many shopping alternatives also within an easy walk. This includes 2 smaller supermarkets. ATM are numerous.
Trips to the surrounding countryside are easy by car and there are a large number of attractions within 20km. But all up you can't go past wandering around the streets, lanes and squares of this quite amazing 12 century village. The Town House is a must.

Some friends and I stayed here over the double bank holiday weeekend. Its centrally located and was a great base for exploring dordogne. The house is well decorated although could do with twin beds if staying with a goup of friends.
A car is really a must if exploring the area but if just visiting sarlat then the house is a great location.
