We did this as a group doing the tour at night, where it is lit via candles which adds atmosphere to the place. you can visit it during the day as well. The tour leader gave us the history of the place and the nice little stories that go with the place. Good fun.

Quite an interesting history of these caves and the monastery, good information in English and a great respite from the heat of a hot summers day!

What a pretty place. The carvings in the caves are mysterious. Great place to visit on a hot day. Only 6 euros entry each for adults.

If in the area you will need to view these caves. You can let appropriate how much work was needed to cave out all these figures.

There was a small art gallery on the site too. You have to buy the tickets from the tourist office which is across the main square which is not an issue.

There are signs in English and France describing the different carvings

Mysterious but clearly of great importance to early monasticism, this site is well worth a visit. Good information in French and English.
