Bloemhof-Karoo farm is well worth a visit, be sure to stay long enough! The staff is attentive and caring, the service and food superb!! We had a dinner under the stars in the middle of the road in front of the farmhouse and afterwards lay on a blanket on the grass to look at the millions of stars in the sky. The farmhouse, furniture and ornaments reminded me of special times on our family farm visiting my Grandparents. We were spoilt from the moment we arrived until the sad goodbye after two nights! We will definitely be back.

This is our third stay at Bloemhof Karoo, and the experience just gets better. This time we had three nights and two action-packed days. On two evenings we shared the house with other guests. Although we could have remained separate, and actually dined on our own, the experience of sharing a drink with like-minded travellers was delightful and enhanced our stay. The food was delicious and the animals and birds surrounding the house and buildings were a constant source of delight. We will be back. Thank you.

Room Tip: Oxwagon suite is the best

The Karoo with its windmills, dusty roads, whirlwinds, sheep and sunsets beckons one and BloemhofKaroo provides the space to so adequately fulfil these needs.
Sit by a fire on a winter's evening with a book from the wonderful selection and a glass of wine and be transported to a place of peace and tranquility.
Enjoy too the eclectic collection of old plates and ornaments of yore found dotted around this rambling homestead.
From the time of our arrival until our departures service was understated but superb and a hot water bottle in the bed was an unexpected bonus.
We had a delicious home cooked dinner as an extra that is available and well worth it after a day's outing.
Would suggest you spend a few days exploring the hiking and cycling facilities which, are fully supported and also game viewing. Also close enough to explore Richmond, NC as there is easy access to the N1; the farm is about 20 kms south of Richmond.
A place to which to return.

We spent 3 nights at this incredible spot near to Richmond...were spoiled beyond expectation with some excellent food and very attentive and caring staff. Our son had some great interaction with farm life too, feeding and tending to the animals and spending time out in the bush with some of the staff. Highly recommend this spot!

Room Tip: Any of the rooms will be great!

This place is a treasure. It's very easy to find and yet you feel very remote. The people are wonderful and very hospitable. A whole family lives on site and runs the accomodation and meals. The owner, Jenny, is aiming for the estate to be self sufficient so they have a large veggie garden, chicken, pigs, donkeys etc. The property is an historical building previously owned by Chris Barnard who is one of SAF most prestigious modern characters. The standard of the rooms will satisfy the most demanding travellers. Activities include watching the daily farm activities, taking a ride in the huge adjoining game farm (by appointment) which was totally amazing for me and a highlight of my trip. The people there know and love their animals and you get to learn so much. Another interesting part is reading about the history of the place and I found some great books. The early riser will be privileged to amazing morning lights and sunset is also not to be missed after a night cap at the bar or a cigar in the smoking lounge.
