From the moment we arrived to Myra's warm welcome, we felt as though we were in a movie! The understated splendour of the magnificently restored colonial homestead is a beauty to behold. A true oasis in the Karoo. The spacious Oxwagon Room and bathroom make for a very comfortable stay. Tea and biscuits were served on the lovely old stoep that forms the perimeter on the front and side of the house. We went for a long walk, taking in the serenity of the scenery and Rosey, our Jack Russell, was mesmerised by the pigs and piglets! On our return, we poured Sherry and perused some of the many books available all over the house about the Karoo. Martha made a delicious Lamb Pie and Myra cooked very tasty al dente veggies. The Grenadella pudding was yummy. We will definitely return to the tranquility of this welcome relief en route to Cape Town or Johannesburg and highly recommend it to lovers of the finer things in life!

I have found the ultimate stay in the Karoo! Because I love the Karoo, I have searched for the ideal place to stay for many years. Some of the many places I have stayed at, were very good, but there was always something that could have been better. Bloemhof Karoo is for me the ideal place. At this working farm, the accommodation is outstanding, the food is excellent and the service is unparalleled because the people are so sincere and just salt of the earth! The accommodation is far enough from the main road to experience the absolute peace of the Karoo (about 5 to 6 kilometres). The distance from Johannesburg/Pretoria is, in my view, is ideal for the down trip to Cape Town (about 800km). I will always use this farm when I can.

Room tip: All rooms look very good, we stayed in the flagship room, The Ox Wagon, which is just wonderful.

An amazing overnight stay at Bloemhof Karoo on our roadtrip home from university. I would suggest this little haven to any travellers - the house is beautiful, the staff is extremely hospitable and welcoming, the entire farm is steeped in history and there are so many animals to be seen. A huge thumbs up!!

The Karoo is a magic place. It appears barren and uninviting, but this is not at all the case. There is abundant wildlife and amazing scenery, an endless source of delight for the observant traveller. Bloemhof Karoo is an exceptionally beautiful place from which to enjoy everything the Karoo has to offer. Close to the N1, it is easily accessible, yet far enough away to be completely isolated from anything except its own spectacular surroundings. The staff were friendly, the food delicious and our room, the Oxwagon room with a huge ensuite bathroom, was exceptionally comfortable. And while we were there, a goose hatched five goslings and twelve piglets were born. We had a wonderful three night stay.
