Wow. Where to begin ?
We were a small group of 5 women coming together to experience the cuisine of Israel and discovered so much more… culture , history , politics and in the process developed deep and meaningful friendships through these amazing experiences .
We began our tour in Jerusalem , travelled to Galilee and Tel Aviv and from the get go ate and drank like royalty !
Warning ! Be prepared to eat and I mean really eat, as in I wished I had started boot camp training for this weeks in advance. What I realized through this your is that Israeli cuisine spans the scope of worldly cuisine because Israel is a fusion of so many cultures.
I ate food that was beyond anything I had tasted . Explosions of flavors I would say.
Between markets , farms , kibbutz and restaurants I tried a massive variety of foods that scintillated my palate .
I also was incredibly fortunate to have Orit as my tour guide . Orit goes above and beyond to make every single experience on this journey enriching , fun filled and full of knowledge . I ended this tour completely in love with Israel and its culture because of her.
I can’t recommend Via Sabra highly enough to do them justice. They are professional and ultra accommodating and plan amazing adventures. Go try for yourself. You can thank me later !
Incredible hiking trip on Shvil Yisroel, the Israel National Trail. The variety of trails was fabulous, as were the guides, especially Segev, and all the attention to detail. I was able to "live" the trail. We had amazing food and uncommon cultural visits. This is a fabulous trip for people who have been to Israel before and have done the "usual sites" and museums.
I can't wait to take my next trip with Via Sabra!
Barbara, thank you so much! Your commitment to the trail, and to the group, brought an additional and unique value to the trip. This experience would not have been the same without you and we can't wait to travel with you in Israel again soon (next time, without the falling bottles)!
Via Sabra is a unique company and group of people, who take their role as ambassadors for Israel as well as professional tour operators seriously, and succeed in building adventures and tours which are at the same time incredibly special and enjoyable and also meaningful and uplifting.
Many tour providers see their business as just that: a business. So while they may be efficient and professional, and even friendly, they're doing a job. Via Sabra prides itself on seeing its work as more of a calling, and the team clearly not only loves what they do but are committed to ensuring that visitors learn to love the country - land and people - as much as they do. And achieves this!
I saw it up-close, hiking the length and breadth of the Land with them on their 'taste of the Israel Trail' trip in May '23, where their personable, professional, efficient, flexible and inspiring guides and staffs did a fantastic job juggling the challenging logisitics of this part-hiking, part-touring experiment exploring the Israel Trail. I'd jump at the chance to do it again in an instant - and hope they do plan more!
Aryeh, your support for this trip, and your continued friendship is unmatched and we are so grateful to have experienced the trail with you. Thank you for all that you do!
Excellent hiking trip along the Israel Trail. Great food, great guide, lovely people. Best way to experience Israel.
Terry, it was a true joy to watch you connect with the trail, with the group, and with Israel, throughout this experience. We hope you took as much away from your journey, as we did from getting to know you. Thank you.
Via Sabra is not your every-day Israel tour company! Without dissing other operators with whom I've traveled - Israel has the world's best tour guides, across the board - Via Sabra excels at off-the-standard-path places and people. We hiked 5-10 miles per day on selected, often historic segments of the Israel National Trail. We were all active seniors (60-80 y.o.) and the hike options (and opt-outs) were suitable for all. We met a cultural smorgasbord of Israelis while hiking segments of the Sh'vil Yisrael, the Israel National Trail. Instead of seeing things in Israel, we saw Israel in all its beauty and diversity. The accommodations varied from kibbutz guest houses to luxury hotels with the common denominator of great food. Our primary guide and the several part-tiime, local guides were all excellent. This was the first run of a new tour and it ran quite smoothly. Many days we fell behind our packed schedule but guides did a great job of adjusting timings on-the-fly. I would travel again with Via Sabra in a heartbeat.
Rick, what can we say? You are a mensch of the truest form and it was an honor to have you with us on the trail. The pictures you shared with us brought the trail to life for so many others who followed along on your journey. We can't wait for you to bring your good vibes back to Israel with us!
I just completed the SHEFA tour and I'd take it all over again! It's a unique women's tour of off-site locations in Israel. Not your regular tourist spots - which are important and worth visiting, so this tour is for women who have been to Israel before. We explored the projects of passionate Israeli women who wanted to help others and fulfill their own dreams in the process. From a workshop to help sex-trade workers get off the street and learn to sew colourful bags and knapsacks etc from used parachutes; to a remote goat farm in the Galilee built from scratch by a couple who serve a full course meal (including 10 types of home made goat cheeses) to visitors who want to experience something different; to a kitchen in Akko where Arab women learn to demonstrate their cooking skills while creating a community with their Jewish neighbours. The trip organizer herself is a passionate young Israeli woman. What a trip!
