“High-quality villa in a beautiful location”
Reviewed 31 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Casa Canonica proved a great base for our family holiday. The villa has a lot of character, including lovely views from all the bedrooms. It was clean and well equipped with good showers, comfy beds and functional wifi. The swimming pool is superb – in it's own gated area, large and very well maintained. It was a real pleasure to lie in the large hammock in the adjacent shaded lounging area, cold drink in hand, gazing across the green valley towards the hill-top town of Todi, while the kids swam and played in the pool. We ate most meals at the large table on the terrace under the wisteria-covered pergola and made good use of the wood-fuelled barbeque. The comfy TV room just off the large kitchen/diner proved useful for the kids to watch a DVD after exhausting themselves in the pool all afternoon. The table football and table tennis in the basement were also much enjoyed.

Marcello and Fanny couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful – really nice people and great to know they were nearby if we needed anything. We took advantage of the offer of Fanny's cooking on our penultimate night and were very glad we did – a great value, high-quality meal delivered direct to the villa.

We really liked this part of Umbria. There is so much to see and do within a relatively short drive of the villa – the waterfalls at Marmore are spectacular; Todi itself is a picturesque little place and we particularly enjoyed a trip to Orvieto with it's incredible Duomo, followed by cooling off with a dip in the lake at Bolsena.

Highly recommended!

“A villa, set in the inspiring landscape of central Umbria with the perfect location for further exploration.”
Reviewed 28 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We have just returned from a wonderful week spent in Casa Canonica. The property is set in magnificent landscape with clever seating for strategic views and relaxation. The house has all the modern amenities one might require but retains all the traditional Italian features in the architecture and fittings. Incredible attention to detail and safety: we had a 12 month old baby and the house was fitted with safety barriers both up and down the stairs. The reception rooms are very spacious and the bedrooms a perfect size: one with an ensuite bathroom and another a delightful balcony with access to the garden allowing a secret swim before breakfast! There is also a ground floor bathroom. The very large tables in the kitchen and terrace are testament to the Italian people's love of family dining occasions and so we feasted in the warmth of the Italian nights many evenings. My son and his fiance availed of the offer of a 'chef cooked meal' as a surprise for my birthday and it was perfect: delicious food delivered to you your table by Fanny and Marchello. The pool area is fitted with high spec relaxing outdoor couches and a beautiful hammock in a delightful shaded area. The location is perfect for visiting the famous surrounding hill top towns of Umbria with no place really over an hour away. Finally, we cannot speak highly enough of the kindness, attention and welcome we received from Fanny and Marcello and the accommodation of the owner Irit.

“Wonderful house in a wonderful part of Italy”

We cannot recommend Casa Canonica enough! It's just a perfect holiday rental. We were a group of 8 - two families with 4 children ranging from 1.5 to 5 yrs old - and Irit, Fanny and Marcello could not have gone to more trouble to accommodate us. The house itself, aside from being spotlessly clean and fantastically equipped (with a beautiful swimming pool), is in an idyllic location on a remote hillside with incredible views across the valley to Todi; a very pretty little town, and the local metropolis (10 mins drive away). It has just enough to keep you interested (good gelateria and a handful of restaurants), though Perugia and Orvieto are also both within 45 mins by car.

The house is traditionally built and in keeping with the area, but finished to a high standard (great showers and bath). Marcello (who actually built the house BTW and has done a great job) and Fanny very kindly kitted the house out with stair gates upon request for the children, meaning we had complete peace of mind about letting them roam free. The kitchen is a lovely space for family meals, spilling onto a lovely outdoor terrace. Our only grumble would be that there happened to be loads of mosquitos the week we went (last 2 weeks of August), but were relieved to hear from locals that everyone was suffering the same and it was an uncommon problem. We just hope that others will enjoy this place as much as we did!

Our stay at Casa Canonica was idyllic! The house worked perfectly for 2 families, lots of space, clean, the games room was brilliant and what can you say about the location, views a swimming pool - spectacular. Just sorry that we only booked it for a week
