This dinner was an experience that we will remember for the rest of our lives, and the hospitality of Nicoletta and Gianni, and their amazing food will bring us back for many, many years.
We ordered a terrific bottle of the house sparkling wine. It was so great that we asked to buy a bottle to take back to the States!
To start, we shared the torta fritta and salumi misti. The torta are fluffy fried pillows that you can break open and stuff the salumi into. Unbelievable! My wife and I had been craving these for months since she found this gem on TripAdvisor! Once we tasted these, we knew we were in for an unforgettable night.
For primi, my wife ordered the anolini in brodo, and I ordered the tortelli di noci. Both were just spectacular. We wanted time to slow down so that we could enjoy longer!
For secondi, my wife had the quaglie ripiene, and I had he cinghiale alla cacciatore. This was homestyle cooking that we’ve never tasted anywhere else. It was just incredible, hearty food. We of course had some polenta as well on the side.
For dessert, we had the tiramisu and some cookies. Again...just incredible.
Toward the end of the meal, Nicoletta and Gianni came out and joined us for a digestivo. They the warmest, kindest people we met on our trip. We conversed in the limited that Italian my wife and I knew, some French here and there, and finally we all broke out our smartphones to let Google do the translating for us! It was an incredible evening that we will never forget. We will be opening our souvenir bottle of wine this winter to remind us of our time in Salsomaggiore Terme!
Grazie mille, Nicoletta e Gianni! È stato un piacere conoscerti. Noi non ti dimentichiamo, il pasto perfetto o il tuo eccellente ristorante! Speriamo di visitare nuovamente in pochi anni (con banbini!)! Stammi bene! Alessandra e Anthony
