We had a fantastic in the house near Monte Moro. It was very quiet and peaceful with just the wild pig snuffling round in the valley. It provided some wonderful autumn sun and we enjoyed the pool and the wonderful views from the balcony. We enjoyed travelling round and soaking up the history as well as going to lots of lovely beaches. In particular we enjoyed the amazing local wines and mirrors and went twice to Ennios recommended restaurant - La Ruota. Ennio was very helpful and gave lots of advice.
We have just returned from a fantastic fortnight in this wonderful villa.
The villa is situated in a very peaceful location on the side of Monte Moro with unspoilt views out across a valley and beyond. There were 3 good sized bedrooms (all with separate A/C units), 2 bathrooms, dining room/lounge and a fully fitted kitchen. There was also a large balcony with barbeque and table and a good sized swimming pool with sun loungers and chairs on the lawn.
You could spend your holiday watching the wildlife from the comfort of the villa. In 2 weeks we saw lizards, tortoises, wildcats, bats, eagles, buzzards, peregrine falcons, dragonflies, butterflies, thousands of insects and a family of wild boar!!
The local town of Abbiadori is around 5 miles away with a good selection of supermarkets, restaurants and a bank. It is then another 3 miles or so in to Porto Cervo and to a selection of amazing beaches. Our favourite was Liscia Ruja but also loved Baia Sardinia and Pevero.
Sa Conca in Abbiadori is a must visit for gelato, pastries and cakes but I have to say that all restaurants we tried were good quality without being overly expensive.
Ennio is the perfect host, never intrusive but always available if you have any problems and very knowledgeable about the local area of which he is obviously very proud. His recommendations of beaches, restaurants and days out were spot on.
All in all a perfect family holiday which we would love to repeat!
Villa La Gjanda boasts a perfect location in Santa Teresina, about halfway up Monte Moro. As you would expect, the views are simply fantastic. Best of all, you're only around a five minute drive from the nearest town, Abbiadori, where you will find numerous supermarkets, a pharmacy, cafes and other amenities.
Ennio is the ultimate host. Before our arrival, he was communicative and knowledgeable. He provided us with so many recommendations, all of which were spot-on! He was always friendly and happy to help - with his tips, we were able to discover a more authentic Sardinian.
Ennio's villa is perfect for a family. It is spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a nice-sized pool and sun loungers for catching a tan. There is also a BBQ on the terrace, which we used more than once during our week-long stay. Why eat out when you can drink wine and enjoy the amazing views from the comfort of your home away from home?!
We loved trekking up to the top of the mountain, too - before you even reach the summit, you're greeted by panoramic views across the island and the coast. Slightly further afield (but still not far to go - this location is perfect for exploring the whole north-east of the island) we enjoyed Baja Sardinia for a stroll and the golden sands of Spiaggi Cappriocoli. San Pantaleo market is also a must-visit, but be sure to head there early before it gets too hot and busy.
In terms of food, you need to go to La Rocca restaurant for seafood, Il Birrifico at the foot of the mountain for burgers and steak, and L'Assaggio in San Pantaleo for mussels or pasta. The golf club near Cappriocoli beach is also great for a leisurely lunch on a shady terrace. In Abbiadori, you have to pop to Sa Conca, a charming caffetteria that serves the best cakes and gelato around.
All in all, it was a brilliant holiday and Ennio was the perfect host. We can't wait to visit again :)
La GJANDA is a lovely villa in a fantastic, peaceful location - yet within easy reach of the fantastic beaches of the Costa Smeralda and La Maddalena. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the mountains was unforgettable and the private pool was great in the afternoons when the beaches became busier.
Our thanks to Ennio for being a very helpful and knowledgeable host and for being on hand to answer any questions or give advice.
We would all love to return!
