A wonderful small museum that helps to understand Paestum much better. Well displayed exhibits and not too many visitors.

All the archeological finds at Paestum are displayed here. Entry is included with your entry to the Park and should not be missed. The exhibits clearly show how they know what the temples looked like and all the things the ancients had and did

One of the most surprising things about the ruins at Paestum is the amount to see.

There are 3 different temples, all impressive in different ways. You go inside two of them and get up close and personal with the ancient workmanship.

The temples are surrounded by other ruins ranging from homes to an arena.

Following dirt pathways may be a bit tricky for anyone in a traditional wheelchair but my dad found it quite easy with his thanks to his clip-on of-road third wheel.

The museum is in a clean, modern building and offers plenty to see from pottery to sections of tomb walls.

Plenty of cafes and restaurants on offer around the ruins, all of which seemed fairly priced.

Highly worth a visit if you’re anywhere near the area.

Not as well known or busy as Pompei, this site has standing temples that are dated to 500 - 600 BC. You can walk among the foundation ruins of houses and still see intact mosaic flooring as well as the temples. Truly impressive when you reflect on the fact they are 2500 years old. The site is quite large and accessible . Museum unfortunately was closed when we were there but apparently has a significant collection of artifacts from the area and this early period of Italian culture.
Grounds can be toured in 1-3 hours depending on your pace. Museum can easily make it the better part of a day. There are restaurants adjacent to the site. 1 hour south of Salerno ... well worth a visit.
