“Sublime tranquility and natural beauty!”
Reviewed 9 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We were looking for a quiet and private place to stay for a week in the sun and this place more than delivered!

The road getting in to and from the property is a bit nerve-wrecking and we probably should have thought more about it after receiving our big rental car, but after a few trips, my husband mastered it even with wet weather providing additional obstacles.

Most of our stay was blissfully sunny but it was also lovely to experience the thunderstorm on the last day - either way this cottage is exactly like the pictures advertised. It's cosy, big enough and a rustic hideaway for two.

Jennifer, Fabrizio and the team were very attentive and provided us with a lot of information for the cottage, shopping and the surrounding areas. Even when we ran out of gas towards the end of the trip, they did their best to get this sorted from afar and did just that.

Trips out to venture around or further afield to Assisi are within easy reach. Grocery shopping is just as easy with a big co-op around 18 min drive away that can satisfy all needs. If you are feeling a bit more adventurous, the more local towns offer a bakery, butchery and fruit and veg place to shop too. We tried both and they were more than sufficient.

What did weaken the experience (which isn't anyone's fault as we were in a nature reserve) was the constant onslaught of mosquitos day in and day out. We weren't prepared for this and apparently it was a really bad month for it. We had to make a good few trips to the pharmacy for sprays and bite gels. In Orvieto Scalo we found a pharmacist who could speak English so we could ask for assistance which was good as I'm pregnant. I would suggest checking with the owners before you go so you can be prepared if it's bad when you travel. In the UK we forget about these little pests! Also, we only found the mosquito net for the bed in it's box when checking the cupboard to see whether we had left anything behind moments before heading back into the car to Bologna. This probably would have helped, but that's the beauty of hindsight. Just be aware that there is one if you need it as we didn't know.

All in all we had an incredible stay. The views and the size of the property is just amazing. You are in complete isolation on this property, but very safe. There are a few other properties close by but you would never say it. Its very difficult to stay here and not find some time to relax and unwind a bit. It's the first time my husband has made it through two reading books on holiday! That's says something...

Thank you for a lovely holiday.

“An enchanted place with spectacular views and a character of its own.”
Reviewed 25 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

A magical spot, we loved it. The views are worth spending a week there alone. It's like being somewhere completely unique.
Fabrizzio was charming and very helpful and the house was lovely and clean and well-equipped. Great bbq area, lovely pool and some fun places to explore nearby.
The road was fun, but we negotiated it no bother at all in a rented Fiat 500 with very low profile tyres.
A beautiful place and we will come back.

“Bird watcher's paradise”
Reviewed 16 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Wonderfully peaceful location with fantastic views out over the valley. The cottage is perfect for two adults and Fabrizzio, the gardener, couldn't have been more helpful. We enjoyed the beautiful environment and saw and heard a great variety of birds including cuckoos, hoopoes and owls.
The track down to the cottage is pretty rough and doesn't suit low-slung cars so be aware if you are renting a car. We made sure we stocked up on food when we went out for the day so we didn't have to negotiate the track too often.

Management Response

Thanks so much for your comments. We have fought so hard not to pave the road on our natural reserve, it would take the magic out of the environment but I agree about the wear and tear on a car! Definitely a place where our guests are forced to slow it down and relax. Thanks for leaving the cottage so tidy, I was there this afternoon. Jennifer
