We were recommended this place by our wait staff and chef at another establishment where were having aperitifs. It was quite late into the evening and weren't sure we'd get a table as we hadn't booked, but the staff were super friendly and advised there would be a table available in 20 mins if we didn't mind waiting (which we didn't). They pointed us towards their bar upstairs where we could have drinks, here was where I discovered Italians have been in the Gin industry for the past 5 years or so; there was a whole array of bottles in this bar, who knew!? Moving on, the barman whipped me up probably the nicest smelling G&T that's ever crossed my nose pallet, it tasted yummy too. Not long after we were told our table was ready to which we promptly headed. I ordered the deer ravioli which was fantastic, a dish I'd recommend, and my partner had a tomato something pasta to begin, it was yummy but that's not the dish I want to highlight, he also ordered a fillet steak covered in a garlic sauce which was divine!!! That dish I'd highly recommend! We like our steaks medium rare and this was cooked probably on the rarer side of medium rare, but it was perfect! I personally loved it. We had no space for desert, but our server brought us two glasses of grappa on the house as a digestivo.
Overall the service was great, staff friendly and food fantastic, dining in a lovely underground stone walled setting surrounded by bottles of wine.

My partner and I spend 2 weeks travelling all around Italy and this was without a doubt both the best, and most enjoyable meal we had. And far from the most expensive as well!!!

We showed up at around 8 and didn't have a reservation -> they were full inside where it was warm but offered us a table outside which we took (quite cold -> but hardly their fault!)

Our waitress, Jada, was a delight! We liked her from the start but didn't realize how much we would like her as the night went on.

We shared an entree, a pasta, and a main course (meat) and each was stunning. The only thing that left a little something to be desired was the bread, but I feel like that's italy -> somehow the country that makes the most amazing pasta in the world makes mediocre bread lol.

We had travelled in to Montepulciano that day from Florence and were a bit tired (and disappointed with our hotel but that's a different story) and had planned on having a quick dinner and leaving. But the food was so good and Jada was so entertaining we ended up staying longer! We had some espresso, a dessert, and then moved inside after they closed (Jada invited us in) for another glass of wine that they let us enjoy while they closed up the restaurant.

At the end, Jada even gave us a list of some of her other favorite restaurants to try in Montepulciano (we tried one of them -> and while it was quite good, it was not as good as La Bottega and it was more expensive)

Highly, highly recommended. Also -> make a reservation (we didn't and lucked out, but don't take the risk)

If you go, tell Jada hi!!

Right on the corner of the main shopping street and the street up from the parking lots, I was expecting a place to get a bite to eat and some place to sit for an hour. We got that and a really lovely experience to boot. They offer a wine tasting experience via a pre-loaded card and wine "stations" where you can pour yourself different size portions of 30-35 mostly red regional wines. They also advertised 50 different gins (if wine is not your thing!) The hosts were charming and helpful and spoke excellent English. The food was good too

Rustic and beautiful setting in the middle of Montepulciano. Service was excellent from our server who was also a sommelier. Her wine recommendations were excellent and very reasonably priced. Food was very good and they added candles to our friends’ desserts to celebrate a birthday and anniversary.
Finished off with a taste of Grappa-an experience in and of itself.

We had the last meal of our three week Italian holiday here. We had a drink in their bar the previous evening and did not realise that they have quite a large restaurant hidden below the ground in a 500 year old wine cave. Although there are quite a lot of tables, they are spread over at least three different underground levels so our meal still had an intimate feel. It is essential to book as there were many people turned away during our evening
Everything about the meal was excellent: wonderful food, exquisite pasta, beautiful beef dishes and a fantastic wine list. The bar upstairs also has a great selection of 50 gins.
Although there are the usual traditional dishes for the region, there were also a number other options if you have tired of the usual fare offered everywhere.
And attentive and knowledgable service.
