“Still shining bright”

Pane Vino & Zucchero
Ranked #3 of 105 Restaurants in Montepulciano
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: US$11 - US$23
Description: Pane vino & zucchero is not a restaurant , but rather a " cucineria " which is a place where you eat well, drink and enjoy yourself with your friends and family . The word perfectly describes our eatery where we warmly welcome our guests and share with them this traditional Tuscan philosophy. Here you will taste a simplified version of our local specialities, served with a new modern twist whilst still respecting the culture and traditions of the food from this area of Italy and above all using seasonal products . The result of our unique formula is that we have chosen to offer you a menu where you eat well on a fair budget whilst sharing good food with us and your friends and family in an intoxicating environment.

Back again at PVZ, twice in fact since 2017, and it may even be better than it was before. Great attentive service, a well rounded menu and excellent preparation for every dish we sampled. Beautifully presented, one of the so-called green salads had little actual greenery and more red cabbage than expected, but it was tasteful, and the thinly sliced apple was a nice addition. The chickpea soup was delicious, as was the gnocchi with percorino veloute and bacon bits. This is plac you can come time many times over, without being disappointed or bored. Keep it up, and hoping to return.

Wonderful food, fantastic service. Both my partner and I said the italian sausage, fennel and apricot pasta was one of the best things we'd ever tasted. Will undoubtedly return!

Perhaps the people writing the poor review recently were having a bad day or were just tired from travelling but I recommend that you try this restaurant for yourself.

We did, this evening, but unlike the previous reviewer we booked a table in advance so we got a table in the main room.

We had the steak and pork which were both really tasty and enjoyable. The steak was a little more cooked than we would normally have but we did not know the italian word for 'rare' and ended up ordering medium. That was our fault and not that of the restaurant. We still enjoyed the steak a lot.

For dessert my husband was torn between having tiramisu and the dessert recommended by the owner, 'pane, vino e zucchero'. He went with their recommendation and was glad he did.

All in all, we had an enjoyable night in a unique atmosphere with food we enjoyed.

Thank Cantour

Terrible. Smelly back room we were ushered into where there were no other people. Chicken salad was not fresh at all. Chicken was like cardboard. Salad old. Rabbit tagliatelle wasn’t bad but very oily. Been to Montepulciano 4 times now and that place scrubbed off our list.
