This is one of the hotels the family used for a wedding in Malcesine on Lake Garda. Rooms on Ground floor or balcony all overlooking the Lake. Private outdoor swimming pool and lawn within a few feet of the lake. Small amount of self catering possible. Clean, tidy and the most helpfull owner you could wish for. A one euro tourist bus stops right outside hourly during the day which takes you into Malcesine a lovely place to visit and less than 2 miles if you decide to walk. Very close to water sports centre. Private underground car park locked up at night for security.

Room Tip: Even better views higher up but ground floor gave easy access to pool and lawn area. Lift available.

Three of us are just back from a great stay at Residence Sporting in Malcesine.

We had one of the lovely loft apartments on the second floor with a fabulous view of the lake from a large balcony. There is a double bed in the main room area and two singles on the mezzanine. The room was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was well equipped with cooker, fridge, microwave, teapot and all the crockery and cutlery. There is a lovely pool with plenty of sunbeds.

The hotel is located in Val di Sogno, about 25 minutes' walk from the centre of Malcesine. A little tourist but stops right outside the hotel at 5 minutes past every hour, and its only 1 Euro to get into town. Or, if you're going in for an evening meal, you can simply drive in - there is plenty of parking in Malcesine.

Residence Sporting is right on the lake front, with only a minor access road between it and the lake. It has a small beach and a pier. The main road runs behind the hotel, but there was little noise from it in the room.

The owner, Sergio, and his team are very friendly and helpful. One day we went to sit on the pier in front of the hotel and Sergio came out with free drinks to keep us cool.

We particularly enjoyed the free bikes available from the underground garage. We cycled along the lakeside bike path to Brenzone to the south and to Navenne to the north. Very relaxing.

We really enjoyed our stay in Residence Sporting and we'll definitely be back.

We stayed in a four person apartment for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The apartment was comfortable, clean and well equipped and had fabulous views over the lake. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The walk into Malcesine took about 40 minutes, but was a lovely stroll along the lakeside; however a tourist bus, which stops right outside the hotel, will take you into Malcesine for 1 Euro. Although we didn't get a chance to use them there are plenty of decent mountain bikes available for use.

The proprietor of this hotel is really friendly and generous. We were visiting Malcesine for a wedding, and he was a very accommodating host.

Each room in this property faces out over Lake Garda, which is probably one of the most stunning views in the world. I don't know of many places offering views of that quality at the prices offered by this hotel.

Unfortunately, that is where the positives end. Our room seemed clean when we arrived, but we soon noticed that our feet were picking up a ton of dust and dirt from the floor! We were pleased that the room offered a mini fridge for our stash of snacks, but it smelled terrible. We had to throw out all of the food we had been keeping in there, as we were afraid that it had picked up the scent. It was fine for keeping our beer cold, but we refused to open it unless we were heading out of the room immediately after because the smell would permeate the room for 10 minutes after each time the door was opened. Yes - that bad.

There were also a lot of random ants in the room (which was on the second floor). I know the occasional bug is unavoidable, but we were discovering a minimum of 20 per day.

On the overall, this place just needs a facelift. The furniture and fixtures are old and worn. The bed had fresh, clean bedding, but it was really noisy. I couldn't get out of bed at night without waking my partner with all of the cracking and creaking.

This place offers good value, and we could certainly stand the vintage nature of the hotel. It was the lack of cleanliness and ants that would make me seek another hotel for future trips to Malcesine.

We have stayed in Malcesine for 2 nights during our road trip around Italy, the apartment was very nice the view from the terrace was realy breathtaking as the residence is situated on the first line, just next to the Lake Garda. The staff was great and very helpful, especially Mr Sergio who offered us the fresh coffee and croissants each morning, we also visited his restaurant in Malcesine – La Pace , where we get nice food on house because we were the guests of the Residence.
The little minus is that the free WI-FI was only in the lobby. We stayed with group of friends and get an apartment for 5 people, part of the beds were on the second level with the very steep stairs and the low celling so it was not very comfortable to get there… and I would not recommend it for small children or older people. For sure we will come back there! Thank you Sergio for the wonderful stay and great memories from Lake Garda!

Room Tip: Room with the view on the Lake
