We stayed at Il Mulino for a week in August 2017, 3 of us sharing the apartment.
Great location, just 10 minute walk outside of Garda.
Very clean apartment in an original old mill, very spacious and cool, extremely comfortable beds which were changed half way through the week, lovely intimate courtyard for eating and relaxing outside which was also shared by the other guests. The rooms were all of a decent size and the property is restored and maintained to a high standard.
Orietta the owner was helpful and attentive with any queries or questions we had.
The swimming pool was great to dip into after a day out but was a little small, albeit the grounds around the property itself were well looked after.
Overall a good base for exploring the south and eastern side of the lake and its position away from the centre of Garda ensured it was peaceful.
Our Lake Garda stay was at the end to a two week mini tour of Italy and turned out to be a haven after the heat and bustle of Pompeii, Rome and Florence. The apartment is wonderful, cleverly designed, spacious and clean with comfortable beds. Pasta, sauce, prosecco, still and sparkling water in the fridge and tea and coffee provided as well as other essentials such as toilet tissue, dishwasher tablets, washing liquid etc. There is a washing machine and iron available for use and the most essential item for me - a proper hairdryer! The apartment has air conditioning although it remained relatively cool inside anyway despite outside temperatures of 30 degrees. The Wi-Fi in the apartment is very good, this is essential to us when travelling as we run our own business so it is important to be able to stay in touch (it also made our teenager very happy).
It is a short walk (10 minutes) down in to Garda town where there is a good supermarket opposite the Esso filling station near the bus station. It is uphill to the apartment but only takes a few minutes extra to return as it is a gentle incline on good pavements.
Garda town is beautiful - this was our first visit to the Italian Lakes and everywhere you look there is stunning scenery. There are many shops and restaurants all much cheaper than city prices so it made a lovely end to our holiday. The bus station in the town made all of the lakeside towns easily accessible, by bus we went into Verona for the Opera at the Amphitheatre (and used the OperaBus service to return), to Malcesine for the cable car and to Gardaland. Our final bus trip was to Verona Airport for our return home. We also walked to Bardolino along the lakeside path - it took about an hour each way (again, it was very hot).
On our last day we asked for a late checkout and were offered the use of the apartment for the whole day as no guests were arriving immediately after us - this is a great example of Orietta and Franco's kindness, I had asked them many questions before we arrived and all had been answered - even providing a link to the bus timetables.
I thoroughly recommend this apartment not only is the apartment wonderful but the owners are too.
The 2 bedroom accommodation was very well presented and clean. The pool on the property was an added bonus plus the use of the garden . It is a 10 minute walk into town which is not for the faint hearted some days as it was 39 degrees.
We only found out near the end of our stay that there is a complimentary bus which goes up and down the hill every 30 minutes . My only constructive comment would be to have more information regarding transport alternatives plus more information on the use of the amenities in the flat e.g washing machine .We got there in the end but it would be good to have the information available
We had a fantastic holiday staying in Mulino Castellani in June 2016 (family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 teenage children). Apartment was clean, modern and had everything we needed. Bedrooms were a good size and comfortable with the added bonus of AirCon in the apartment.
The pool on the grounds was perfect for cooling off after a hot day exploring Garda and the other local towns. We also made use of the trail that heads up the hill for an early morning run before it got too hot.
Garda town itself is a short walk away and was a great base for exploring the Lake.
Orietta was incredibly accommodating and helpful throughout our stay (we also spent one night in their beautiful hotel outside Verona - Relais Corte Guastalla - as we were arriving into Verona on a late evening flight).
All four of us said we would come back again! Looking forward to it.
The apartment was very well designed and beautifully decorated with high quality interiors. Orietta and her husband were very helpful and always on hand if needed. The pool area was nice and relaxed. As others have said the walk into the main Garda area was around 10 minutes so easily accessible with a few nice restaurants just across the road from the apartment if you didn't feel like the walk into town. I would especially recommend 'Le Cross' who provide a very warm welcome and good food. Garda itself is absolutely beautiful and would definitely recommend the apartment to others.
