Spent 3 nights here in late June. It was kind of cold outside, but inside the main dining room it was warm and cozy. Cristina and the staff were always hard at work tending to guest needs; making delicious food, bringing us tea and drinks, cleaning the refugio, and bringing us hot water bottles at bedtime! The hut us so clean, well tended, and cozy. It really feels like you are high above the world, with incredible mountains all around, the wind whipping outside, and happy trekkers gathered inside. Although you can take a lift to within a 15 minute walk to this hut, it still feels very remote and wild, with the rugged Dolomite mountain cliffs looming above it. The setting is spectacular and true adventurers will love spending a night or two or 3 here, enjoying the traditional Ladin hospitality, and taking rugged and beautiful hikes during the day.

A friend and I took a gondola and then a chair lift to around the 8,000 foot level above Corvara and hiked up 20 minutes to Franz Kostner’s hut. The trails were well marked with a red paint stroke and white line. The hut was a lovely respite with a beautiful view of the valleys (several) below. Not only did the hut serve food, it also served as single room lodgings for hikers. There was a wide veranda outside and a minimal number of tables inside with a bar. The food was delicious and comforting.... cornmeal hash with beef stew followed by a deliciously made apple strudel and ice cream... and of course warming cappuccino! Well worth the trip up on a sunny day. There were people lounging in wooden lounge chairs made by carving out a log and they were well-used! A must do on any Corvara trip.

Last day in the mountains but as the cabin is so easily reachable (up the gondola, plus a 20-30 min hike) it was impossible to pass on it. I had heard a lot about their great, fresh food, but the definitely surpassed my expectations. The kids had simple yet delicious pasta with tomato sauce, and my wife and I shared a traditional Ladin plate that was simply exceptional- both the taste and the presentation. I can only imagine how heavenly it must taste after an exhausting hike! We'll be back!

The best polenta I've ever eat! And my girlfriend recommand the farfadelle ladina! Warm welcome and very good food: what do you want more after hours of trail?

My kids and I stopped here for lunch on our 6 hour hike, and it was perfect. Good food and good service, with a fantastic view.
